Default These prices are high, arent they

Im looking at buying an EF or crx for my winter car, and I found 3 locals:
CRX
The rex is privately owned and has quite a lot of cancer. I think I might learn how to do bondo on it...

Civic White
Civic Grey
I know these prices are high...but I am not sure what is a fair price.
Both cars are in personal dealer lots (you know, like "Bob's Auto").
They run fine, no real mech probs that I could see/hear when I drove them...but theyre michigan cars, have typical honda cancer (not awful), and I believe they were city driven on a daily basis.
(The white civic's mileage is 15x,xxx)
(The grey civic, I am offering even less $ and having them keep the wheels/tires.)

What should I seriously offer them as a counter price? Any help would be appreciated

wow, i thought the white crx hf with 123,xxx mile on it for $1,100 was a steal especially considering the condition it is in. yeah there is a little rust but all the interior is in there, the body looks straight and you will get incredible gas mileage out of that thing. i got my 89 hf for $900 with the interior stripped, the front bumper was cracked a little and it had like 200,000 miles on it. there was no rust but still i considered that a good deal since it ran fine. if you can find any others in better condition than those and for the same price let me know and I will buy them all day long and then sell them down here for a good profit. also it's an 88. lightest model ever built. :drools:

a little sanding and a little bondo will work wonders.

Unless its straight thru the body, then you'll have to break out the welder. There is rust by the door, that could be a bad sign. If I were to see that white HF I would jack it up and check the underbody too.

2k is what I would expect to pay for an excellent condition crx/civic, your mileage may vary.

Im actually supposed to go back w/ a jack and look under the rex next week. Im a bit afraid of what I'll find...

There is a perfect rex even closer to home that is $3k. If I were going to get a new project, Id buy it.
I just feel a little bad about seeing a crx go to ****. It needs love and I want to fix it up...to beat it into the ground

RUST is the worst defect a car can have. you can't get rid of it by just covering it up w/ bondo. plasma-torch required. welding.

I never said id cover it up...Id cut it out and fix it.
Living in michigan means you live with rust...learn to accept it and learn to deal with it. ALL Michigan cars have rust

Look at the rocker panel in this pic. Once you pull that sideskirt off you're gonna go into shock. That car beyond worth repairing imo.

If it is just for your winter car go ahead and get the crx. With it being a winter car in michigan it will get rusty again anyway. You will love the mpg too.

Huh?

Im seriously leaning toward the white ef, or the dying crx...Im just strangely attracted to the prospect of fixing it over the summer months.... I'll have to pull out panels before I finalize anything though

if you just want a winter beater that crx is the best choice. but if your wanting it to look good, and become a nice car to drive around in the summer find something with less rust.
