Default Thinking about throwing a d15b7 tranny onto my d16z6... benefits? downfalls?

I have a d15b7 swap used for parts, and was thinking with the current gas prices so high it may be worth putting that tranny onto my d16z6 build. Would this be a bad idea? I would think with the different gearing I would end up increasing my fuel efficiency. Anyone ever done this? results? comments? thanks.

Acceleration would be a little slower, due to the longer first gear, and the different final drive. But as or your sake, gas milage would improve because of the Final Drive, which intern would put you at a lower RPM on the highway.

gas mileage will improve big time. (mine got 42 mpg w/ dx tranny, and w/ the same style of driving and a si/ex tranny I now get about 32-36 mpg.) dont know if it would be worth the work unless your bored as hell!

Are you talking when you did a full swap, or was that the results of each tranny bolted up to the 1.6L D-series block? And was that the DX Coupe tranny or sedan tranny?

And the job would probably only take me ~ 4 hours myself, in my driveway... 4 hours would be worth it in the long run, if I was going to save enough on gas.

youll end up getting better gas mileage...
gearing is a ton different.
the first and fifth gears alone would save you gas...

i got a cx tranny. man 2nd gear goes up to 60. GREAT GAS MILEAGE. most def. if your going to be under 45mph a lot then stick with the shorter tranny cuz then u can get into 5th gear without lugging. but if your gonna be on the freeway a lot then get the longest trannny you can. VX tranny is longest i think? dx is great tho cuz my tranny is just around there.
