damn it i hate emissions ok i this is how it is...i went there on tuesday i think and i passed cat, seal in gas cap, CO **** and the only thing i failed was HC **** they said it was HydroCarbons or something like that and can be adjusted, so has anyone had this is problem and if yes how do i adjust that or what to do

alright homies, this is what it says on the paper that you get from them inspection people, and HC thing, they said i just have to get adjusted by a local dealership or a mechanic, now, i need to know if that HC thing is HydroCarbons and how and where is the button/place to adjust them?

 

youre running rich. HC=unburned fuel. there is no button to adjust it on cars. what you could do is turn down your fuel pressure some if youre regulater is adjustable... what's your setup anyways?

 

maybe hes not getting enuff air in because his air filter is super clogged up? or maybe a bad map sensor? o2 sensor? i onno someone help this guy out lol im just guessing.

 

Generally, Hondas emissions are very low in stock form. However, if the car has been modified, it's a slightly different story.

It may sound funny, but changing the oil makes a difference, as contaminated oil is high in hydrocarbons. Also running higher octane gasoline for at least half a tank may help, due to the extra detergent in the gas and the gas burning cleaner.

I recently passed the tough California smog test, everything pass easily, except for hydrocarbon emissions. The HC passed, but was near the limit. The mechanic suspected the car needed an oil change.

Don't know if this is the cause for your high HC though.

 

check your ignition... when was the last time you changed your spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor???

 

what ecu are u running? chipped ecu's and smog aren't fond of each other

 

i gotta D15B7 in it , air intake, racing clutch, short throw, stock ecu as far as i know, oil could be the problem as somebody has stated i havent had time to change it since i gotta take it to a place cuz i don't have the jacks cuz my car sits so low, but anyways i'm gonna change the oil, air filter is 1-2 weeks old, new spark plugs, plug wires, fuel filter's pretty decently been put in, so i'm suspecting oil, i'm gonna change that and take it back since i get next one done for free, and i'm also running 89 octane in it forgot about that somebody has mentioned it, if anybody has any other sugestions throw em out, thanks for the help guys

 

Check/adjust your timing and use a Honda PCV valve.
