Default tire rub elimination

Tire rub I hate it. I have the Tokico HP kit on my civic which is set on a 1.5 inch drop it came with struts and shocks. I have 17" rims tires are 205 40 H17 Yokohamas and when I go into a corner the front tires whichever way the car leans rub the fenders really bad and smells like I've just done a burn out, also in the rear if I go over a bump or if I have alot of weight in the back it rubs like crazy as well

I am investing in some sway bar/strut bar kits right now but I dont believe they will completely eliminate my problem. So I would like to buy stiffer springs to replace the tokico ones.

Any suggestions on what type of springs I should purchase

i just think that a 40 series is a bit to big on a 17. try a 35 series... pretty sure it won'trub anymore.

Personally, I think 17's are too big for a civic. You can go with a 35 series tire on the 17s, but you will have almost no tire and you will regret it the first bump you hit. I have 40s on mine and it is too little of a tire, so 35s will be way too small. If you can afford it go with a 16 with 45's, or 50's if you can fit them. If it is too pricey to buy new rims, you can take out the fender liner and that will help a little bit with the front rubbing, but your door jams will get really dirty. For the back, there is a tab where the bumper connects, that you need to bend up, and that will more than likely fix the rubbing in the back. Hope this helps.

If you decide to go with 16's I would recommend the 205-40-16 OD 22.5
Because the 205-45-16 OD 23.3 and the
205-40-17 OD 23.5. When you put those tires
next to each other they are basically the same size. So I say the 205-40-16 and you should not have a rubbing issue. Also remenber that the 205-40-16 is shorter and it won't fill the wheel well. If I mispelled anything oh well. Anymore questions just ask.

Another thing to think about is offset.
Try check the offset on the wheel, typically marked with an ET on the inside on one of the spokes.

23.1-23.5" OD is what's correct for these cars, and is what a 205/40-17 has. You shouldn't eliminate rubbing just by getting a shorter tire, as that is sidestepping some other problem you have. Wheel offset could be it, camber could be it as well. If you're rubbing on the fender lip area, consider getting the fenders rolled. If you're rubbing on the inside, you'll need spacers as your offset would then be too high.

For stiffer springs, you should contact Tokico and ask what the maximum rate spring is for those shocks. It most likely won't be too high, but figure that out and come back and tell us.
