Tire Suggestions - '96 prelude w/'96 spec itr wheels
I bought my itr wheels with a set of potenza re-02s on them and i loved them, they were an awesome tire....
They were partially worn when i bought them, so i dont know for sure, but i believe they wore down pretty damn quick....
I did some searching and i came up with the toyo t1r....sounds like comparable performance, i just have a few questions:
1) how wide of a tire can i run on the itr wheels, im up for suggestions on size....
2) how is the treadlife on these, comparable to the potenzas?
thanks guys

Stock size for the '96 Prelude is 185/70-14, and for the Prelude Si and Prelude VTEC is 205/55-15. For the Si and VTEC, get the stock size tires. For the base model, you can get 195/60-15, which is a better fit to the stock diameter, or again, you can get the 205/55-15, which is still pretty close and has a lot more tire offerings. Neither of these sizes is available for the T1-R; all the 15" sizes of T1-R are too small in outer diameter for your car.
If you're looking for performance comparable to the S-02, then get the Bridgestone S-03, which is available in 205/55-15. It's a bit expensive ($128) but offers excellent dry performance and wet performance, and treadlife is decent. If you're willing to trade off some of that performance for a lower price, other options in this size include the Kumho Ecsta SPT ($67) and the Yokohama AVS ES100 ($78).
According to the specs on the Tire Rack website, all three of these tires are approved for rim widths of 5.5-7.5", so you're fine on the ITR wheels.

Not much. They're in the same "budget performance" category as the Kumho SPT and Yokohama ES100 I mentioned, but they don't perform as well. That's why Dunlop is replacing the FM901 with the Direzza DZ101, which is competitive with the SPT and ES100 but doesn't come in your size.

That's a good choice. They won't stick quite as well as the S-02, but they're outstanding on wet pavement, they last a long time (I've got 25K on a set on the GS-R and they still have a couple of 32nds, which means they'll end up lasting around 33K), and they're not terribly expensive.

I would go with the 205/55-15. The grip won't make a significant difference, the 215 will accelerate slightly slower, and with the 205, you won't have to worry about speedometer/odometer error (about 1.8 percent with the 215) or the possibility of rubbing. Oh, and almost no tires come in 215... which makes it kind of a no-brainer!
