sucky K20a3 drivetrain
i've recently discovered and begun to understand some of the differences between the K20a3 block (found in the si) and the K20a2 (found in the typeS). the thing that is frustrating me the most is the TWO lobe intake cam found on the intake side of the a3, and the ONE lobe, NON-vtec cam on the exhaust side. the a2 has THREE lobe cams on the intake and exhaust ... the a2 is missing the high lift and duration lobe ... originally i was considering switching the typeR cams into my a3 but apparently that's not going to be possible ... i still love the ride and body style of my si but personally i feel just a little gypped ...
does anyone know of any cam swaps or any other options i might have, to somewhat render this problem and make me smile again?

check out chunky's custom cams for the A3. do a search and you'll find them. they added 30+whp untuned.

Let's see the dyno

Let's see the dyno
Option 1 - chunky's cams: you'll lose low-end power, but you'll more than get it back up top. 30-ish peak whp gain is true (probably have to check out ephatch for his post, dyno included).
Option 2 - A2 headswap: you'll get most of the benefits of the A2 motor, but the 5-speed tranny really doesn't allow you to realize its full potential. The K20A and A2 are still high-rev motors and don't really come alive until above 5-6000 RPM, so you'll need the shorter gearing to make it sing.
Option 3 - Full motor & tranny swap: Best package. Spend less with an A2 swap and keep your EP's final drive gear, or get the whole shebang JDM-style. The price difference between the A2 and K20A, however, will allow you to outfit the A2 with Toda or IPS cams and some other stuff for the same total budget.
Option 4 - Hondata, valvesprings (to be safe) & 6-speed: Cheaper than any of the above (except probably chunky's cams), probably easier too, and it might be the way I end up going with my motor. I'd get a little more oomph, higher redline, and a shorter tranny to match, although I'd put in a taller TSX/'06 Si 6th gear for the highway.
