alright so i no nothin about limited slip differentials but one of my buddys seem to think that i have LSD....because when i did a burn out yesterday it left two black strips of rubber and he says that means it has lsd....if it didnt have lsd it would have only been one... so i was wondering if this is true???

No. It is not true. An open diff. can leave black marks.

The reason why I know is because my roommate did it 2 nights ago. If you break them loose at the same time (relatively speaking) then you will commonly get 2 black marks. If the frictional surface and level of ground for the 2 tires is relatively equal then you will most commonly get 2 black marks.

If one wheel is on pavement and the other is on dirt the one in the dirt will spin and the one on the pavement won't.

 

There would be one strip if the surface of the road would have different grip for each tire and Your trans would be without LSD. But if the grip was the same to both weels it could left 2 strips without LSD i think...

 

the only way to tell is to take your axles off and see if you can see if oyu have an unobstructed view. if there is a metal rod through the middle of it, then you dont have lsd. no metal rod, then you have it. somewhere there are pictures on honda-tech illustrating what you are looking for.

or jack up the front of your car, and spin the wheel. if both wheels go the same direction you have a LSD, if the other wheel goes oppisite direction you have an open diff.

 

well... to tell without taking anything apart or even jacking your car up is, put one or your front tires in a puddle and the other on dry pavement, rev it up, dump the clutch and if the one in the water spins and the other doesn't, slap your friend and tell that he just got owned!!!
