yesterday I had a dream that I bought a motorcycle at mervyns for 50 bucks. it wasnt full size but maybe half size. but i didnt get to ride it
. but anyways I think I wanna get a bike now. I currently drive a 95 gsr and maybe thinking of sellin it to get a bike(park anywhere) but the thing is I dont know nothing about bikes. I dont know how to ride one either. and im nto shure if im feelin the whole one passenger thing. what if I need to take my girl out can she just sit behind me or what? please gimme some info and some good bikes I can buy, and how much I should pay for them. and if you can somehow explain how to ride a bike I'd appreciate it.

If your dreaming about getting a motorcycle from mervyns and you wake up and really want a bike, don't. It's time to grow up and get real. This is real life, not Willie Wonka and the chocolate factory, there is no rewind button.
what he said
and you dont really want to have your bike as your only mode of transportation, what happens when it rans, big chance of wrecking, it hurts, you get soaked, what happens in the winter, what happens when it gets cold, its much colder on your bike goin 60 then it is just standing outside, and your girl isnt going to want to go out on the bike all the time, you cant go anywhere nice or even really go out, cuz shes always going to bitch cuz the helmets messed up her hair, believe me thats a big deal
if you cant afford to have a reliable car, and have your motorcycle, with(i really recomened full coverage) insurance, and proper gear, i really dont recomend gettin a bike

Your girl is not going to be happy about riding on the back of a bike as only transportation, riding in the rain is very miserable and more uncomfortable for her than you....like the other said, take MSF.....
then...
buy a cheap bike to learn to ride on, one you can drop and not cry like a newborn baby...think early 90's.

Asking people on the internet to explain how to ride a motorcycle is not smart. Its alot different than asking someone on the internet to explain speed shifting in a car. If you **** up speed shifting, nothing happens, maybe alittle wear on your clutch, but nothing major. You miss a shift on a bike at 60mph and dont know what happens, you may lose control, over rev and engage and then its done. You could lean to far, turn to wide, pop the clutch, etc.. the list goes on for ever. Making a mistake in a car @ 50+ mph usually means an insurance deductible, shop time for the car, and your back on the road. A mistake on a bike @50+mph usually means your going to be down and out for a long time, not to mention whats going to happen to your passenger if you have one. Good chance of the bike being totally salvaged, you will more than likely end up in the hospital, and be lucky to be alive.
I rode for 10+ years off rode before i bought my first street bike. I took the msf last month and its amazing how much that pays off.
Step number one in your search for information is to enroll and complete the msf course. You will learn (hands on, by riding) how to ride a bike, how to control it, and most importantly how to react to other drivers, debris, etc..
If your still interested after the course, then i would say definatly start looking, Just remember, its not your paint job you have to worry about, your jdm rims, your wing, your image,...its your life and last time i checked you only get one, so be carefull.
BTW, before i bought my 2005 R6, i did alot of research of all types, bikes, cc's, accidents and fatalities, statistics, etc...
I live in a town of about 20K people, and this summer there was 7 people ranging from 18 - 40 something, that were killed on motorcycles. Only 2 of those accidents had anything else to do with other traffic, the other 5 were rider error. Tells you alot about how poeple under estimate.
Good Luck
Take out a life insurance policy. It might sound funny, but its not. By getting on a motorcycle, especially a rocket if thats the route your going to take, your drastically increasing your chances of extreme bodily injury and death.
