i've had hawks. they squeak and have a lot of brake dust. they grip good though.

which hawks?

from what i read on their site, the hps are supposed to be street friendly, meaning no squeeling and minimal dust.

HP+ are squeaky and they have corrosive brake dust. HPS is a street pad, but the bobcats are marginally better than the HPS IMO.

Get the bobcats! They are awsome!
no squeel, no fading even in open track days, lots of dust. They do need some heat before they work they're best. That's noticable when your driving in the rain.

i'd go with the carbo's out of the two, but i like the cobalt friction GT sports the best out of this class of brake pads.

Hawk Performance HPS Street Pads.

As long as you perform the break in and install them properly, they shouldn't squeek.

Seems to have a little more bite than stock pads without the rotor eating properties of some other pads.

Some places to try:

http://www.psifactory.com -> low prices and low shipping. good service.
http://www.frozenrotors.com -> decent prices and low shipping.

i'd also go with carbotech bobcat. i've used cobalt GT Sport on my Stoptech BBK (WRX) and those things squeal like a semi when you're coming to a stop. they are a horrible pad for the street.

some other pads you should look into are axxis ultimates. they dust quite a bit, but stop well for street and light track use. my silver SSR competitions take on an anthracite appearance 2 weeks after being washed if i use the axxis. on cobalt GT Sport, they would look anthracite in 2-3 days!
