advance timing?

hi i got a 2000 ls
and am wondering how to advance my timing
how much
and is it really worth it.
will it damage or hurt anything?

leave it stock. if advance get more low end torque if retard. high end torque
leave it stock you cant really feel much a difference anyways. and 2 degrees is maximum adj for smog checks
