hey whats up honda tech i just wanted to know what would be best for a honda civic hatchback(1995). coil over or spring? i want to go as low as i can but still keep a nice ride. i dont want to bounce to much. I will be getting a b16 in it so is there springs that specialize in that kind of modification.

 

Whats your budget looking like?

 

go coilover if you can afford a full-coilover (tein, skunk2, koni/gc, etc). if you're keeping stock shocks, get springs.

 

i am going to have to agree with you there buddy. if you go coil-overs, get either tein or skunk2 with tokico or kyb struts. nice ride without the sacrifice of a shitty ride.

 

if you're on a budget i say go shocks and just springs. Otherwise a full coilover will provide best comfort with the adjustablility. I was gonna ask if you raise the car up for winters, then go coilovers, but i saw you're in Cali

i just bought tein s-tech springs, still waiting on my Tokico Blues before i put them on.

the tokicos i got because a friend highly recommends them. I had the illumina 5-way adjustables on my old hatch, and i can tell you now the adjustablility of the stiffness on your shock is worth the money. but i hear the blues give a smoother ride. i went with s-tech springs because i used to have eibach's and i didnt like the way it sat. i see pictures of cars sitting on tein's and it looks like a more natural stance for a honda.

Coil-over is shitty, unless you spend the money for a full coilover set up which should run you over a thousand bucks. these cheap sets i wouldnt recommend. not even ground control. I mean yeah they are good for the money but thats not good eough for me. plus, no moving parts on a spring whats to worry about? you still get a 2" drop.

 

BLUES ARE crap, theyre oem replacements

thats what i am using.

 

i dont find anything bad about them really. cant find anything great about them either though, i just think they are a decent cheap alternative.

 

well ive been in 3 cars that have blues and they are lowerd as much as i am and the ride is bouncy and all 3 drivers hate it and so did i

Yup yup, I don't know why people match up lowering springs with Tokico Blues. They're really meant for stock springs! Granted, my friend has Blues with Intrax lowering springs on his Talon and they haven't blown YET. His ride does suck ***** though.

If you want comfort with adjustable height, then I highly recommond H&R full coilovers (not the Cup Kit). I've had these for a year and half now and they're an excellent street setup.

 

it just depends on personal preference, personally ground controls. and stock struts, after market struts will eventually give, oem stock struts are made to last for a very long time.it s mainly preference.

 

If you decide to go with coilovers, I highly recommend a set of D2 coilovers. I have them on my '92 hatch and I love them! Height adjustable + 32 way dampning.
Much better than Tein, in my opinion.

agreed, been on blues for 2 years and all 4 are already blown and im on skunk coilovers and im not really even slammed, i think im 2 inches all aroudn or right around that mark. for blues

 

so when you say d2 do you mean the full coil over set or just the coil over. to tell you the truth i want to go as low as possible with very little bounce
