Default Installing an Oil Filter Relocation Kit is a B*TCH !

Well.....trying to put a SummitRacing Oil Filter Relocation Kit on my 94 DelSol b16.....

ha, it is a bitch to find a place to mount the new filter mount!

Couldn't get those screws to work for a damn thing, and it is very ocward to mount!!

Finally ended up mounting on the firewall between the battery and fuel filter... .... hope I can find a better place for it

----------anyone have any tricks on mounting the damn thing ?

I'm thinking of getting the greddy one, the only ones I've seen that actually looks nice is the one on Rodrez' kandy apple EG. It mounts on top of the trans and it points towrds the front bumper, it's really neat

I bought one off ebay and also an oil cooler.

I went to vatozone and bought more line, I think I used 15 feet total.

I mounted my oil filter relocator to the frame in front of the top tranny mount. I drilled holes into the frame and used self tapping screws.

Not trying to sound ignorant here but whats the point of relocating the oil filter since its right above your drain plug? you still need to go underneath and drain it. Seems that would make it a very messy job. Whats the reason here?

Getting that filter off can be a bitch for people with very big arms. Also, if you could relocate the filter so that it sat like a U instead of =} it would be helpful so that you don't dump a ton of oil out trying to get it off.

A funny way to say Autozone. I've also heard it called Bozo-zone.

Just curious.
Is circulating oil on start-up an issue b/c it has so much further to travel? (especially in winter)
Or is that a silly question..?

I live in the chicago burbs and it's the same.... a lot of people call it 'chicano-zone' around here.

Indeed, the Honda oil filter location is a bit inconvenient at times. On my 2000 Toyota Camry (and I'm guessing on other 4-cylinder Toyotas), the oil filter mounts to the front and sits on a downwards slant rear-to-front so the filter is easily accessible and any excess oil doesn't spill everywhere during oil changes.

it's also nice that....you can get the 15,000 mile synthetic oil......and just change filter 3 times before changing oil !

easy

I use a filter wrench that uses a 3/8" ratchet, get one of those and there won't be any problems getting it off or use the k&n filters with and use a 1" socket. I don't have any problems getting mine off and to be honest about it I feel like it's a good place for it. It's right above the drain so you don't have to move the pan. It is tight under there but I drive mine up on ramps and that really helps a lot. I just don't see why anyone would have trouble getting the filter off.
