Default idea....read

i don't propose that this is a good idea but just wanna hear some productive discussion bout it...........putting a weak mister of n2o in the wheel well behind ur front brakes to cool them off on overheating conditions. this idea is an evolution of the n' tercooler from nitrous express or whoever has that nifty invention

i dont like the idea of dumping something wet on my brakes. not only that n2o isnt that cheap.

it'll probably warp the rotor in an awful way. also, that's a pretty drastic measure to take to cool of your brakes. not to mention, isn't n2o flammable?

its very flammable. not a good idea. the best way to cool brakes down is air. See if you can duct some air onto the caliper area, thats the best thing.

n20 is non-flammable.

He's right. N2O is only an oxidiser or accelerant. But if you got it near a spark and anything flammable it'd be bad. Like smoking in a hospital room filled with 100% oxygen.

I too would try to fit some ducting to the brake rotors before I'd try to mist anything like N2O. You may be able to rig a mister for water since it is not likely to start a fire. Just be sure that it is a very fine mist or it could be bad; warped rotors, loss of traction if the tires got wet, etc..

Yeah - i think going from HOT to a rapid Cool would definately warp something.........there has to be a gradual cool...........

I agree with McFred - put something on the rear of the rotors and see if it works.

With water - i don't think it would help much - you'd start having problems with different components rusting.........I don't know how your knuckle looks, but mine needs to be replaced.

yea these are all valid points. about the warping, that was something i thought about too and discussed with someone too. water misting seems like an alternative but u guys are rite about rusting and possible loss of traction. ducting and good brakes is prolly the only way to go.

N20 is not flammable. It just seperates into Nitrogen and Oxygen above a certain temperature (like 800+ F... IIRC). Thats why you get the power boost, you get more O2 in the combustion chamber.

Wouldent adding water cause pads to crack and rotors to possible warp and crack as well ?

Whos brakes honestly get that hot ? get some decent brake pads and some performance brake fluid and you are off.

I re-routed my windshield washer hoses to my front rotors before. Even just spraying water, my rotors warped. I bet nitrous would kill them. Besides, with good pads, braking improves when the rotors heat up.
