Default domelight not working when door opens

I have a 98 Civic Lx 4 door and when I open the doors on the car the domelight does not come on. It does come on if I manually turn it on from the switch. It is not my door pins because the door pins work . Thanks in advance.

no there is a stock HOnda deck in the car, but it is not the one that came with the car. What does this have to do with it? Is there a wire in the deck that controls the domelight when the door opens?

civics 96-98 have the keyless and dome controlled by the factory deck (there is a green 16pin connector that goes into it)

Your old OEM deck has the security unit build into it as well as the wire that completes the curcuit to your dome light. If you look at your old stereo you'll see 2TCO in the lower right corner of the screen. That tells you it has the OEM security circuit w/ keyless entry. 6th Gen HX, LX, and EX had these head units.

Which deck is in the car if it is Honda, but not the original one? Would it have to be a 6th gen Civic radio to have this feature? I know mine does, but it this the only gen to have it?

I installed an aftermarket cd player in mine and did the same thing and I found the 2 wires in my haynes wiring section for the security feature on the back of the radio and jumped them together and voila I had a working dome light again.

I notice there are 2 green plugs that are not used and I know the 2 wires I need to splice together are in one of these 2 16 pin plugs , but which wires are they? I do not want to splice the wrong wires together!

from my haynes it looks like it is LT Green/Black and LT Green/Red is the two wires but it's been so long since I did it.

On the back of the deck it should say "security" it's in there.

Also if there is a green connector does that mean you had keyless entry because I bought the a week ago and she didnt tell me.

it's 96-98, I have an hx and it doesn't have key-less entry and I still had to jump the 2 wires together on the connector. Look on the back of the deck and it should say security and look for those wires and make them connect each other. I don't know how much more simpler you can get really. It's much easier if your looking at the deck so you can understand it.
