which tire size is better
I have the stock rims and am debating between two tire sizes they are
205 45 16
or
225 45 16
list any advantages or disadvatages for either one
does anybody know the rim width 6" 6.5" etc...
thanks

you want a 7" for the 205 and 7.5 for the 225</TD></TR></TABLE>
stock rims are 6.5" and stock size is 205/50/16, don't know why you said it wouldn't fit, even 225/45/16 will fit on stock 6.5" rims, its been done by alot of people. You won't see any performance gain over 205/50/16 because the tire sidewalls will bulge too much, but it will fit.

I understand there will be no performance gain but will it look ugly with the 225's also if I lower the car will they rub the inside of the fender? the only reason for throwind out the 225/45 is because they will be a taller tire I am not sure if a 205/45 will be too low profile and look ugly also. Just searchin for opinions also the reason for going with the 45 serias is because I found a place that gets them for cheap 270 for a set of 4 "Z" rated

Thats the size I would get, but if not, then go with some P205/45R16 tires instead

i'm running 205-45's on my stockers for Auto-X and daily driving. looks great a lot less sidewall buldge than 205-50's and just a bit shorter. i personally wouldn't go with a 225-45 on a 6.5'' wheel, it just looks wrong

225/45 will look ok. it'll be heavier, cost more, and potentially wear funny, but they'll work--not as well as 225/45's on a 7 or 7.5" wheel...they're also stock diameter so the speedo will be accurate. they won't rub, though it depends on the drop.
205/45's a little short, imo--might look a little funny but you'll have better acceleration with the shortened gearing. speedo will be off by a few mph. handling will probably be close to the 225/45's if mounted on the stock rim.
either way, i think you'll be fine.

i have a 98 prlude which i recently bought 18" rims 225/40/18 stock was 205/50/16. I have a little tire rub going on the outside of the fenders i was wondering if it was possible to widen the fender or just change the suspension to coil over to stiffen it up. If you could give me a better suggestion i would really apriciate it if you could tell me.
you can roll the fender but unless you are running 18*8 you don't need 225 go with a 215 or 205 that will fix your problem . or if you want a stifer ride buy some ajustable struts
i ran 225/45/16 on my stock wheels. The wearing was horrible on the inside of the tire. Even with an alignment, the tires still got ate up on the inside.
