Default Roll cage and AutoX rules for SM2

Currently I have a CRX that fits in the SM2 category for AutoX, but I also take it to the track (HPDE/Time Trials). With a 4-pt rollbar I can keep the front interior stock. If I upgrade my rollbar to a cage (6-8pt) I have to cut into or remove my door panels. I don't need to for HPDE and Time Trials, but at 100MPH+ I like safety. If I do this can I still run in SM2?

The rules don't say I can remove my door panel, but the SP and SM classes allow a roll cage. Does this infer that removing/replacing door panels is OK? I won't cut-out the door metal, and trading the door panel for a bunch of metal tubing isn't giving me a weight advantage. Anyone with experience with this know what's allowed??

Thanks!

I know that we have had a few race prepped cars with full cages run in SM2 in our region. Im not sure whether or not the rules specifically allow or deny modification of existing interior panels to necessitate a full cage. Common sence says you will gain more weight by adding the rest of your cage than you would save by hacking interior panels up.

We aren't talking about common sense, we are talking about rules.

For local events only, I wouldn't think most people would make a big deal out of it... it might not be "legal" but it's not a perfomance enhancement either.

Thats exactly why I went to the rulebook, albeit after posting .

Section 16.1(O) of the Solo book says that any minor mod in place to facilitate any allowed mod is permitted, so long as it does not provide a weight reduction of more than 1 pound. You are allowed to notch, cut, etc.

SM/SM2 inherit rollcage rules from Street Prepared.

Street Prepared requires rollcages to be contructed/installed meeting the rules from Club Racing's Stock classes...

carpet/padding can be cut for moutning
front and rear braces may pass through interior trim
driver's side NASCAR door bar allowed, with removal of glass and winder

The rules don't say you can gut interior, add passenger NASCAR door bar, or remove interior structure of drivers door (glass and winder only).

That section doesn't apply - the rules explicitly specify how a roll-cage is to be installed.
