HX rims and 215 tires, will that work?
Whats up H-T,
I have a 95 Hatch with an ITR swap and I have traction problems... no suprise
Im looking at buying some HX rims for my car and get them powdercoated. I think they are 5.5 inched wide, and about 10 lbs.
I want to get BFG Drag Radials, I plan on driving them on the street, but dont worry the hatch isnt my daily driver anymore, thanks to my 91 Civic Wagon! Ne way, BFG has 2 sizes im taking into consideration on the HX rims, 215-60-14 and 205-50-14, I know wider is better, but heres my thoughts, with 215's am i going to need spacers, Ive heard of people having 215's on EG's but those are on bigger rims, also will a 215 be too big for a 5.5 inch rim? Also wouldnt i want the taller sidewall for the tires to flex for better straight line grip?
Thanks everyone!

You are supposed to have a 6 inch wide wheel for the 215/60/14 size. I would go with the 205/50/14 size. This will also keep the diameter closer to the stock tire size.
ur turn in response is going to suck *****! thats so much tire on such a tiny width rim. 5.5??? you need at least a 6 in wide, even that is a little thin for a 205 let alone a 215. unless you get some CRAzy *** stiff sidewall tires your going to hate it

Ive never seen a 205/50 14 (unless it was a race compound or something)
Ive always seen 205/60 14.

the only problems with the 205's, is that the tire is tiny on the rim...... 14's with a 50 series...too small for my liking....

Bigger diameter tires hurts your acceleration.
But if you're buying for looks, get the 375/30-20 dubs y0!

He doesn't need to worry about that. He's just going in a straight line.

I have a 94 accord with the ex rims that are 5.5 in wide and 205/55/15 tires on them. I think they handle/ride great, but are probably a little too wide for the rim. 215's on a 5.5 would be too wide IMO. 195 is the recommended size, and 205 is probably the highest you would want to go. If you got a really sticky 205 tire, you'd be happy.
