Default Poll: Stock Motor Vs All Motor Set up Vs Turbo Set up

I was just wondering what you guys think about people modifying their ITR's Motor. I'm pretty much against the whole Turbo set up because it defeats the whole purpose of an ITR, but I'm undecided about an all motor setup. I was just looking for some opinions such as which you think is best or if you would even touch it at all. Thanks guys.

I like all motor myself, so that's the route I would go.

I'm a superchager guy, so I say go none of the above and get a procharger s/c setup.

If you were going to go the turbo route, you might as well buy a gsr engine. The c5 isen't the best engine to turbo charge with its high compression ratio. C1's, in my experience, respond way better to turbo setups. Unless you are talking about doing a full interenal set up first with the C5, then going with a turbo. But again, that almost defeats the purpose of a Type R. Does anyone agree with that?

I wouldn't turbo charge my ITR. I like the feel of vtec and by going all motor setup, vtec crossover is even more fun.

here is my current setup:

1) King Stage IV head prep - $1100 (includes
manifold porting and heat shield water delete)
2) Mugen Head Gasket - $140
3) NextGear Gasket - $60
> > > 4) Skunk2 68mm Throttle Body - $295
> > > 5) Mugen Intake -$680
> > > 6) SMSP Header - $1200
> > > 7) Omni Test Pipe - $99
> > > 8) Hondata S100 - $245
> > > 9) Hondata OBDIIb
10) Toda spec C with toda valvespring
Mugen and skunk2 TB are currently on the R, my header is order and should be coming in a couple of week, got hondata system but not in yet... All the rest will be put in next year when I go down to Kingmotorsport to have my head prep as well as get it tune and dyno..

Well you used my quote out of context. Anyway, what's wrong with boosting a car that came from the factory n/a? Are you also going to yell at everyone else who purchased their car that was n/a from the factory, and who put on a turbo or s/c?

Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with going turbo on a factory N/A, but going that route on a factory N/A might cuase much trouble and headaces to some people.

you can put 10grand in a allmotor setup, and put out 250whp-280whp.. it wont exactly be reailable..

or you could put 10grand in turbo steup, put 400-500whp, still wont be exactly realiable.

ITR-2001. What do you hope to throw down on the dyno? And say money situation was around 6 or 7 grand. Going all motor is more exspensive and a lot harder to get huge gains from. But I'm only looking for around 240-250 at the wheels. I think 250 horses at the wheels on a type R would be more then a thrill. The weight of it would easily allow me to keep up with 300-325 cars I would think. Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know what that means, but I bet you spelled it wrong.

I'll translate:

"The Type R is what you make it, and thanks for all the fish"

if you wanted a simple setup..

you could do:
forgued pistons/rods
nice a/c compactable manifold
t3/t4 turbo (spools quick)
intercooler

just basics, can be had for $3500-6000...

personally i think all hondas are meant for n/a. the have high revolutions and good throttle response imo. altho boost is the cheaper way for more power, you have to wait for boost. all motor is also more reliable. and since hondas are lightweight, you can make more power with less... i think the only honda id boost would be an nsx or maybe an s2k. front wheel drive + boost = wheelspin and understeer. or you could just get some giggle gas and solve all of your probs...

thanx
