Anyone go to Motorcycle Mechanics Institute (MMI)?
Just wondering if anyone had gone or is going there? Have anything good or bad to say about it? Were you able to go out and get a job after training? I just watched an ad on the speed chanel about the school. The Honda program seems pretty interesting,

Been wondering about the same thing. I know as of a few weeks ago, its $18k for 13 months and they help you locate a job after your course. Also they help you find housing and part/full time jobs during the course.
They are located in Arizona and Florida only. Been considering it myself.

I'm currently attending AMI in Daytona Beach. I was considering both schools, AMI and MMI, but when I was interviewing owners/mechanics/shop managers I received overwhelmingly negative responses about MMI, but none of them could find enough good things to say about AMI.
AMI is also half as long. I'm here for 8 months, will be Honda/BMW/Ducati certified (factory certified for the latter pair) when I finish in March. It is 8 hours a day 5 days a week though....
AMI also gives you job placement for life.

The MMI rep is kind of a toss up. The American Honda Superbike/FX race team crew chief went to MMI if that's any indication. He went from there into a dealership, then onto a privateer race effort, then got with American Honda's race team back in the early 90's.
That said I've heard bad things about them too.

I figure you get what you put in, just like any education.
Some of the students here couldn't pay me enough money to let them get within 20 feet of my bike with tools, and some of the others have already been working in shops/dealers for 5-10 years. Some of them didn't know their big toe from a valve guide when they got here, and for others the whole curriculum has been a review session.
some of them slack off—and fail. some of them work hard. some of them know enough that they can do neither and ace everything.

I bumped into an old buddy from highschool who went to the Arizona location and was very happy. He loves what he does he said.
