B18c1 GSR Bottom End Rebuild...What should be replaced? Suggestions, Help, etc. please
My car is going in the shop pretty soon, so I'm just gathering all the parts that I need for my rebuild. My 94 GSR block has 180k on it, but my car still runs like a champ! Still need to do a compression check though....
So what parts (bearings/seals, etc) should I replace on the block? I was reading in the archives of people going with the ACL bearing kit.... Should I replace the pistons/rings/wrist pins while the bearings/seals/etc are being replaced? Any help, or suggestions would help... Dont want anything crazy since I commute and drive long distance.....
Head thats going on is a p&p GSR head with over sized valves and crower valve train, skunk2 IM, jun2 intake cam + ITR exhaust cam (possibly thinking about going with skank2 stg2's), mugen head gasket, and thats pretty much it.....

yank those pistons , replace the rings </TD></TR></TABLE>
I dont know...will i be ok if i run skank2 stage 2's or should i just stick with my jun2 intake cam and itr exhaust cam? I'm not too knowledgable when it comes to internals and what parts yield what gains....thats why I appreciate all responses and suggestions.
ok, so since I am on a budget, should i just keep the gsr pistons, get new rings, and replace the bearings, seals, and "such"....if so, which bearings, seals, and "such"....lol

yeah...i realize the dealer sells all the parts I actually need...but I was referring more to bottom end kits. password jdm has the kit, but after looking at whats in that kit, I think there's more...such as bearings......

O.K.-I was referring to the Acura bottom end gasket kit. Not much there-oil pan gasket and a few o-rings. Get the head gasket kit too. Along with the head gasket it has the VC gasket, plug seals, grommets, valve guide seals, intake and exhaust gaskets, + a couple of other odds and ends.

yup..i already got the head gasket kit from prostreet online. It did come with the valve cover gaskets, im and ex manifold gaskets, seals, etc. like you mentioned.
So the acura bottom end gasket kit only comes with oil pan gasket (which I already ordered from Honda) and a few o-rings? Then what bearings are pepole referring to and recommending I should replace?
Re: B18c1 GSR Bottom End Rebuild...What should be replaced? Suggestions, Help, etc. please (iH8RICER
what i did was......
new pistons + rings
new rods...optional depending the person
micropolished crank
.5 mm bore for some new smooth walls
new seals, bearings, gaskets, oil pan gasket, main seal, oil and water pump, head gasket set ( depending on what you want you can do oem or thinner for a bump in c/r)
i voted to go with forged components so i went srp pistons and peak performance rods with arp rod bolts...and arp head studs
my head is stock...no port...valve train, cams, and some bolt ons....
i made 206/146
the cost of parts wasnt too bad..and i'm very happy with the performance...
rebuild with itr or b16 pistons since you are buying gsr pistons. you would benifit from compression they sell rebuild kits on ebay make sure the pistons are oem honda

thanks in advance for the response/replies </TD></TR></TABLE>
if your swapping just the head out:
timing belt and water pump+tensioner is a must if its due for one
Its a little hard to do bearings in the car. you CAN do it, but its hard to spec everything out
I would change the cam seals, cam plug, valve cover gasket.
I would not run oversized valves
since its a GSR, i would buy B16 pistons, they are cheap, and look at the clyinder walls, if the hone is still there, drop them in

thanks to all of you who have responded. Everyone has put some good helpful feedback.
Here's what I have for my rebuild right now:
-OEM GSR Timing Belt w/ spring & tensioner
-OEM Water Pump and Oil Pump
-Aasco flywheel
-Exedy Organic Race Clutch
-Mugen Head Gasket
-Jun2 Intake Cam & Itr Exhaust Cam (or should I go with skunk stg2's?)
-OEM gaskets, seals, plugs, etc for the head
-p&p GSR head with crower valve train (taking to the machine shop once I find some valves...to get resurfaced, inspected, hotanked, and new valve seals put in)
I'm now going to get rid of my oversized valves, and look for Ferrea or OEM ITR's or something similar. I'm also in search for NEW b16a pistons with rings/wristpins, as well as new Head Studs...
If there's anything else I should do...please let me know!!!! Getting excited to get this all done now!
would it be worth selling my jun2 intake cam along with my itr exhaust cam...and buying a set of the Crower stage 2 vtec cams 63402a, or Blox stage 2's, or Rocket stage 2's,. etc? Keep in mind my set up.... trying to get roughly 185+ whp daily driven set up.
hey, i have an idea. i dont know if your intrested but i have a set of p30 pistons and rods. standard size, ill trade you the pistons for one of your custom all motor ecu!! let me know.

Hey guys I’m in middle of pulling my block for a rebuild during the quarantine, can you give me any advice on refreshing my stock GSR with standard size rings and bearings? I’m worried about the hone process. I can see original crosshatch, and I supposed to still use a 3 stone hone to “deglaze”? I have NPR standard size rings thank you
Re: B18c1 GSR Bottom End Rebuild...What should be replaced? Suggestions, Help, etc. p
You don't want to take any material out or you will make the piston-to-wall clearance too big... so be careful about any honing. Talk to a machine shop and see what they suggest... otherwise, you are taking a chance on a big failure for doing it wrong.
