switched to synthetic oil.. now car bogs
so I went from regular 5w30 to Mobil 1 5w30.. and now at idle my car will idle really low and rough, and sometimes shut off completely..
I read somewhere that this could be because synthetic oil tends to leak through seals in the combustion chamber if they are old.. if so, which ones is it most likely leaking through? I do wanna continue using synthetic if possible..
b16 btw

Your sorta kinda on the right track with that assumption.
Especially on older motors, as you may or may not know, with normal or excessive wear, small grooves and scratches will form.
over time carbon will build up and sort of "fill" the scratches and groves.
With the addition if more/stronger detergents in the synthetic oil, the oil will clean up the carbon. And possibly cause your motor to burn oil.
Just my $.02
Dont hold me to it, most of it is logic and/or stuff i've seen/read.

Backin up my first post,
The synthetic oil dosent leak through the seals,
Whats basically holdin your seals together is the build up of carbon, the synthetic cleaned out the carbon.
What you should do...
tear open that b16 and replace all seals
have fun!
BTW- in my CRX i have a b16a also and when I changed over to sythetic it actually ran alot smoother, same thing with my girls 93 GS Teggy.
Try running 10w30 instead of the 5w30...see what happens
