98 accord lowering question...
i just recently picked up a 98 accord sedan... the car was pretty much slammed on 17's by the provious owner... after further inspection it seems the shocks/struts need replacing as well as the tires... it already has lowering springs... i was told it will need a camber kit before i can do an alignment if i want to save the future tires... i was wondering if any of you have lowered your 98-02 accord sedan and if so what type of setup are you running and most importantly did you require the use of a camber kit... if so what camber correction kits did you use or do you recommend? thanks for your time and hopefully everyone enjoyed the holiday weekend... i was working... lol
I lowered my 2000 Accord sedan on Tokico Illumina's and Neuspeed sports. That gives it a 1.8" drop in the front and 1.7" in the rear. The fronts are fine, and I went to a friend at Honda for an alignment and he said tehre's camber issues in the rear but they're still c lose enough to factory specs that it isnt a problem
dropped mine on tein basics a few weeks ago. got an alignment done and the toe was all messed up after the drop but the alignment fixed it to be within factory specs. the rear camber is slightly out of spec, but i've read from numerous places that it is the toe, not camber, that causes bad tire wear. with camber issues, if you rotate your tires frequently you should be fine unless you have a really really bad camber situation. don't buy into the hype and waste your $ on a camber kit. just my .02c.

I'll agree somewhat. I dropped my 98 sedan on Tein Basics this April. My tires were brand new when I lowered the car. By early June, there was significant wear on the inside of the tires, especially in front. I bought front and rear camber kits and they have helped alot.
The best advice to give on the subject of camber kits is DO NOT BUY CHEAP KITS!!!! I bought OBX and could not have been more disappointed. I saved $50 on the OBX purchase over a set of Ingalls but soon threw the OBX kit in the garbage.
I'd buy an Ingalls kit (can be had for about $160) for the front and call it a day

thanks for the info guys... i just bought some kyb gr2's to replace my bad shocks.... the car is already lowered w/aftermarket springs so i'll look into that front camber option... thanks for the inputs

I dont know if they make it for 6th Gen, but i would recommend SPC balljoint camber kits for the front. Doesn't increase height at all like some of the other cheaper Upper A-Arm type. I tried them and it Sucked. Just speaking upon experience.
And for every 1 inch drop = -1 camber
Tire Life will become an issue if you don't correct it.
Been there. Costs $$$$$
Plus to much negative camber isn't beneficial for normal everyday driving.
PS: shoulda splurged for the AGX

cn1999 do you have pics of your car slammed on 17's if so post them or email me a_brent15@yahoo.com ... thinking about getting 17's if i can't find the rims i want in 18's... and what tires size was used for the 17's...thanks
You're gonna get a covered wagon look on 18's...the car even if 'lowered' will still sit up high due to the wheel diameter, i'd just stick with 17's on a 6th gen. I've seen some hideous combinations on 6th gens....
i don't know what ur talking about with this wagon look...when i lower my car the fender sits right on the rubber...not like many where the car has been lowered but still has a finger or two gap between the fender and the rubber... true the wheel diameter is bigger but depends on what your tire combination is... you can have a 17' and 18' rim... and the over all diameter could still be the same... i was just wondering how the 17's will look on the accord... i don't want the rims to look small... also the rims can also fool you depending if they have rivets or what not... 17' could look like 16' or 18's depending on the style...
but overall i think the blitz 01's even as 17's would sick on the car cuz they are bad *** rims...

but a little bit of camber is not a bad thing, it helps when your driving around the twisties.

Wagon look:
Although the car is lowered, the diameter of the wheels offsets this and it's still high although there's no fender gap:
Here's one on 19's

Here's one on 18's, somewhat dropped (and still riding high)

17's and dropped

If you look, the larger wheel size you go, even if it's lowered, it sits up higher and looks kind of funny.
I'd stay with 16's and 17's, and i'd shy away from 18's on a 6th gens. 7th gens can rock 18's and 19's all day long though

i don't know...i would rock 18's... it fills the wheel well gap and doesn't sit to low to scrap everywhere... it an accord man... 17's i would rock to but it depends on the rim... like 17's blitz 01's.... 16's i think there too small for an accord... good for the 4th and possibly the 5th gens...i like 17's on the 5th gen... 15's and 16's i would rock all day long on my integra and good for civics too... don't get me wrong, i see where you coming from though....
