Default Street tuned B20VTEC

The first time I got my B20VTEC tuned we pulled out 230 whp and 151 lbs/ft. I found out it was still running pretty rich so last friday my buddy "ce" and I rented a small airstrip and tuned it for 13.0:1. Today I went to the second hardest dyno in Denmark and pulled out some nice numbers... 237 whp and 151 tq. I'm still on one of b19coupe's old timing maps which was tuned for the same cams as I'm running. We might play with the cam gears and timing at another time but I'm pretty happy about the power right now.

Quick run down...
12.0:1 84.5x89 B20B block
RLZ stage3 head
Cams with Skunk2 stage2 lift and JUN3 duration
JG Sheetmetal IM
72 mm TB

What sleeves are you running on your setup?

Looks good, keep up the good work. How much more are you looking to extract from the motor?

Maybe 5 whp more but I think it's pretty much maxed out... I would rather keep it safe then running leaner than 13.5:1. To bad Hondata does not have gear correction so you can tune it for the same A/F in each gear. Therefore we tuned it for 13.0:1 in 3. gear.

Still impressive, thats the only drawback where a NA motor is concerned. . .there is a plateau point. I have a B20V as well, hence the interest but mine is much more simple. If I get even 190whp when all is done, I am happy, or will be for the time.

Only about $50 for two hours but I think it's pretty cheap... my buddy knows a guy who is in the control tower.

I might want to try out a VictorX IM but I dunno if it will keep the power at 9000+ RPM? Btw. I normally have the rev limiter 200 RPM higher to take full advantage of the power... it actually keeps holding the power 400 RPM more but 9600 RPM and the 89 mm crank is surely not so good for the LS bearings. Any opinion about that?

Very nice. You might find a few more HP playing with the timing maps-if you can do it on the dyno you could see what works for your motor. The same goes for cam timing. Looks like better ET's are coming soon for you

Thanks Todd... I think the timing map is pretty damn good but yeah every engine is different so I might pick up a few horses on the dyno when we play more with cam gears and timing.

Yeah Jeff had 10 sets made with these specs but there would only be a few Hp difference between stage2 cams and these.

You should ask Brad to cut you a deal on some RLZ Stage 3 cams and see how they run for ***** and giggles.

Yeah I could perhaps gain a few Hp to switch the cams but I have a K-series project that I want to get started on ASAP. No more parts for the CRX the next 6 month

How adventurous are you?
In a S200 ROM, the gear correction table is identical in size, shape and location as a USDM P72-273 ROM. In other words, if you are willing to get crazy with a hex editor, you can fix it in about 15 seconds flat. If you search on the OBD1 forum on PGMFI, you should be able to find some of the old threads on gear correction.

Nice work! You should talk to Allan Binderup Jensen sometime - he's been using Crome quite successfully on some of the faster turbocharged FWD cars in Denmark.

Ok I will look into that and yes I know Allan... we are both members of the Honda Club Denmark.

I tried a strip with track bite this weekend and made some pretty good times... my best run was in the final with a 12.499. To bad my start was messed up because the CRX pulled to the left right after I dropped the clutch. So my 60 ft was only 1.9 here. The other runs was with 1.80 60 ft. I guess I have to try some more times and mount traction bars next year to get down to 1.6 60 ft.

I won my class and ran against a Camaro... the female driver was afraid to go under 12.0 which was the index time for my class so she took of the thr. in the middle of the track and thought I was way back... well I pulled up on her and took the win instead
