Leaving for Targa Newfoundland in 24 hours!
Well guys, my long journey is nearing completion. After months of financial distress, getting dirty building, and worrying about not making it, the car is finally ready for the Targa Newfoundland 2005. Broke as hell and tired, I managed to get everything done on time (barely). All that is left to do this afternoon is finish installing the rally computer. At any rate, here are some pics of car # 809, wish us luck! My dad and I will be sharing driving duties (ie. fighting over the steering wheel) so it should be interesting.

Thanks to everyone who made this possible like PIC Suspensions, HMS Motorsports, Driveshaft Shop, and of course my best sponsor, MBNA Visa card!
Here is the quick and dirty on the car:
1995 Acura Integra GSR, 82.5mm 9.8:1 CP pistons, Manley rods, OEM bearings, ITR-ratios in the 'box w/LSD, HKS manifold, Garrett GT2871R turbo w/ 3 inch vband downpipe, RC750 injectors, Crome engine management. Safety includes Autopower 6 point bolt in (Thanks to Crescent @ C-Speed!), Recaro Profi SPG seats, GForce harnesses, and of course the requisite HANS devices for both driver and navigator.
Well just a heads up to the H-T roadrace/auto-x community to cheer for #809! Thanks guys

Good luck! Say hi to our friends Leo and Ian who will be there running the white/black/silver/Orange Hankook Tires Acura Integra.

Great hear! Glad everything went as planned... I can't tell you how many times we've had to deal with the same situation. Seems no matter how well you plans things, it always comes down to the wire.
Get that rally computer installed and get a good nights rest. Good luck to you guys! Keep us updated.

Thanks everyone! I just finished loading both cars up and getting packed, still no rally computer install but I should have help with it once I arrive. I have to tune 2 competitors cars when I get there, so hopefully I find some time. Well off to sleep, thanks for the kind words, catch ya on the flip side!

Well we made it through our 1st Targa Newfoundland alive and well! The car was awesome, aside from the oil line failure on Wednesday causing a fire and costing us the Targa plate. Aside from the 3 stages we missed, we made trophy time on every single stage. We did finish though, no wrecks, no injuries, and only minor charring on the hood. The -3 line feeding the turbo simply failed internally. I had spare -4 lines and fittings, but had to retap the threads on the turbo to 1/8 NPT, but it all worked well. The fire happened before lunch, and I had the car back on the road within 3 hours. A special thanks to everyone who made this possible, my awesome support crew (Martine and the Islandspeed Racing bunch), PIC Performance for their AWESOME rally-spec dampers which have gobs of travel, I didn't bottm the car out once even landing from 3-4 feet in the air @ 180+ KM/HR, Crome engine management and John Cui plus all the PGMFI'ers, HMS Motorsport, Driveshaft Shop and everyone else who had a hand on putting the car together. Look out for a more seasoned team next year, the plate will be ours!!

Wow, congratulations Matt! You and your old man did an awesome job behind the wheel. And the ol' Geeser sure has come a long way since the last time I saw it.

The special that will be shown on Speedvision is only an hour long, so I think that it will take a few weeks for them to get it pieced together. Alot of footage was shot. John Buffum's Subaru had a camera mounted on top of their car and also one of the mustangs had a 4-way video feed going and said that Speedvision wanted their footage. Anyone remember when last year's rally show first started airing
What an amazing week, I can't wait for next year!! Matt wants me to graduate from support crew to the that of navigator. We'll see, but with Matt totally at the wheel, the team should do much better. I really liked driving the Si on the stage routes as a non-competitor. As a support vehicle I follow the police cars immediately as they opened the roads to the public. I also got to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Yay for both cars being able to drive home. Congrats to Matt for not going off the tarmac and he built a great car! Crome software and PIC coilovers were a good part of the car's success. In fact, one of the cars that Matt tuned on the island was on Hondata and used to stutter on acceleration.... during the week, they had a very dicey situation where they were only able to save it by a smooth hard power out. So I think that it could be said that Crome tuning saved their lives and got them a Targa plate. As for the PIC coilovers, the remote roads we were running on were rough and uneven. Lots of jumps. Especially the last day, there were lots of patches and frigging huge potholes to try to avoid. Thanks to the rally-spec PIC coilovers, the number 809 car stayed in control during the many elevation changes. They're very sturdy too.
I highly recommend doing this race and Newfoundland rocks!!!! Next year's race is the last one contracted with the island.... so don't put off doing it.

Oh don't get me wrong, I left the tarmac several times, I just managed to point it in the right direction afterwards
This is probably the most exciting thing I have ever done on wheels, if anyone has the opportunity to do it I highly recommend it!!
Thanks for the kind words everyone, I'm sure most of you will get to see the car in person this year

Here are some action shots guys
I hope to see more Hondas at Targa Newfoundland in 2006!!

I had an oil feed line fail on Thursday and missed 2 stages. Other than the fire, I would have had a plate since we made Trophy Time on every single stage we ran, hopefully next year. As for the oil line, it was a Goodridge -3AN stainless line, I supose the heat eventually took its toll on the internal rubber or teflon whatever it is and it failed, spraying 85 PSI of oil on the manifold. I had spares luckily, so after missin the the next stage, lunch, and the stage after lunch, we made it back out for the afternoon. If there is an event that is hard on man and machine, this is it.

make sure to post when this is going to be on TV. i don't know anything about it but i would not mind watching some of it and to learn something about it.
