Default will 16x7 slipstreams with 45 offset fit spoon calipers?

like the title says...does anyone know? and before anyone hits me with the search option, i have been searching for a whole week and can not find the answer. i get info about slipstreams fitting under the calipers but i can't get the info on the rims. i need to know if the 16x7 rota slipstreams with a 45+ offset will fit under the spoon twinblock calipers with no spacers. any help would be greatly appreciated. oh and if anyone has a picture of this exactly setup, that would be great. thank you so much!

hey there, thanks for the reply, but this thread shows the rota gt3's...i need to know if the 16x7 slipstreams with 45m offset will fit. these 2 rims have different spoke designs. i know for a fact that the spoon sw388 45offset will fit but i am not sure how different the rotas are from the spoons. does any one have this exact setup?

It's already pretty dark here, but I will check tomorrow for you.

I am one of those stupid people who own a set of 16x7 +45 Spoon and a set of 16x7 +45 Rota Slips.

I really think you're not going to have a problem, but I'll check close up tomorrow.

I would like to know the answer to this question too. I have 16x7 slips now and am planning to put spoon calibers on in the future, please let us know.
Thanks

Well, you're not going to believe this....

Although they appear to be dimensionally identical, when you take a measure to them you'll find that the Slips have 1/8" less clearance to the rotor disc than the Spoon wheels have.

So I'm really very sorry but unless someone can verify that there is more than 1/8" clearance between the Spoon 16x7 +45 spoke and the caliper, I can't really verify that the Rota +45 would work.

If somebody with Spoon calipers and Spoon wheels can measure more than 1/8" clearance to the spoke, then we know that Rota will work.

Sorry I couldn't be more decisive.

.....one day I will come visit GK and we'll get this resolved.

iirc, the spoon 16" wheels DO clear spoon calipers. Rota = I dunno.....

Yes, I have used this combination in the past.

If I remember one day, I'll mount a Spoon wheel over the caliper and measure the clearance.

I can tell you right now - it's a ****** fingernail's thickness. ~1mm.

If that's true, then it won't fit the Slipstreams w/the 1/8" less clearance to the rotor.

that was actually the real question. i know it will fit if i put a spacer, but will it fit without a spacer? is it a 1 mm clearance from the spoon rims or the slipstreams? remember folks, we're trying the 45mm offset for the slipstreams, not the 40. this would be really helpful because i know a few people who wants to know the answer to this question as well and i know this will give an absolute answer to people who will think about doing this in the future

Well if it's ~1mm as Ken says with the Spoon wheel then it simply won't fit without a spacer, unless *****-hey's measurements are off. Being that he's so old and likely can read a tape measure (or whatever he used) I would guess you'll need a 3mm spacer.

I don't know anyone with the 45 offset Rotas and Spoon calipers.

I'm going to rehash the argument simply because this thread has gone to term and begs the question:

WTF would you want to put rota wheels over spoon calipers for anyway?

Are you going to bling out, or aren't you?

Perhaps he is one of the few that didn't buy the spoon calipers for their bling factor?

Not everyone is like you Ken
