I'm interested. I'm trying to put a 6 speed RSX type S tranny into my 05 Si. Anyone know why this would be anything other than a straight swap? I would like to have an LSD in there when in goes in too.

Unless you're completely inepted, there's no reason not to go with the Quaife LSD.

A Quaife Torsen unit even deeply discounted is still going to be $825, and will usually sell for closer to $900.

The DC5 ITR LSD will fit in all USDM RSX and EP3 units, and only costs maybe $400 at the most.

Considering this very cheap option that's available to everyone, I am not sure why we are considering a DC2 type LSD...but I guess somebody will tell us sooner or later.

And no slight or insult meant to anybody, but I am paring down this thread, eliminating a lot of posts so that it doesn't detract from the information, once the original poster gets around to it.

I think this has confused a lot of people.

The headline is for installing a B series (DC2 ITR) LSD, but the poster seems to say here that he is installing a K series (DC5 ITR and EP3 CTR) LSD.

Which is it, really?

The DC5 ITR LSD is a known fit into an RSX 6 speed or an Si 5 speed, but we'd still like to see the pictures and instructions.

It's an easy exchange. My only question is why you'd want to do it with the K20A3 motor.

Personally, I like the USDM EP3's axle ratio (it's the CTR axle) and five speed. I can see spending the money on an LSD, but not on the six speed, unless it's a part of a K20A2 package that was bought at a good price.

Do you mind taking a second to tell us why you want the six speed, just to satisfy curiosity?

It's an easy bolt up. There is no USDM RSX transmission that comes with an LSD from the factory. It wasn't even an option in the USDM.

If you keep your eyes open, though, you will find a DC5 ITR or EP3 CTR LSD being sold for really just a few hundred dollars. I just bought one myself. It cost a total of $400 including shipping, and I know I could've found one more cheaply if I kept my eyes open.

There is a difference between how the OEM LSD works when compared with a Quaife, and then there's the famouse Quaife warranty.

However, almost all of us will just never have a use for the extra action of the Quaife. Moreover, with 93,000 miles on my track car I can certainly testify to the general hardiness of OEM Honda Torsen units.

Yes I will tell you why I wanted to put a 6 speed in.
I found one cheap.
I like a 6 speed and I want a LSD so I thought to myself "self, why not buy a 6 speed and put an LSD in it before we stuff it in that tiny compartment and then I will only have my car I'm making payments on down for a few hours so the wife won't be so pissed off that I'm spending money on my brand new car".

I would also like to put an A2 in there, but I ain't got the jack for that yet. The wife is shitting bricks just because I'm putting an exhaust on it soon. Imagine how she'll react when I have the entire engine and tranny sitting in the driveway!!!

BTW it's just had its first oil change and the AC went out 2 days later so it goes to the dealer manana.

I'm with George...the Type-S 6-speed in a Civic Si is really a waste of time (he just didn't put it that way).

I think the gearing on the EP3 is spot-on perfect for performance given the car and the motor. The 6-speed in the Type-S is more of a luxury feature.

To each their own, but if it's a bling mod, I could think if other places to put my money.

As for this thread, why not wait for the 06 Si to come out, then buy those diffs cheap from a discount Honda parts dealer. Those are probably gonna bolt right into the RSX/EP3 tranny and will be extremely easy to get.
