vtec not working... at vtec engagement, it falls on its face
its a 88 hatch with a d15b, using a p28 ecu. everything works fine but the vtec does not work, it has the original fuel pump from the original motor that was dpfi, maybe i need a fuel pump? let me know what it could be. vtec engages at 5k and as soon as that rpm is reached the motor just cuts of and goes of an on...

check your grounds
Any codes?
Run 12 volts to your solenoid to see if vtec is activating
Hows your oil pressure?
Is vtec wired right?
Your oe fuel pump is sufficient, thats not your problem.
Hows your fuel pressure?
do you have a obd 1 distributor?
Hows your cam timing?
