Default installing zc cam on d16a6 engine

there is a seller that i know that wants to sell me the SOHC ZC camshaft and I wanted to know if there is ANY benefit to installing it.

At present my engine is a d16a6 SOHC USDM engine that is supposed to generate 108 HP.

From what I understand the ZC equivalent to my engine in japan allowed the engine to generate 120HP correct?

Is it simply a bolt on affair or do I need adjustable cam gears to take full advantage of the zc cam?

What is a reasonable price for a very good condition zc SOHC cam?

Is there a link where I can find more specific and detailed info on this?

Also the zc cam came from an engine that had the timing belt snap on it and although the cam looks fine I'm concerned that maybe it could be damaged.

Thanks

it is a wee bit more agressive stock then the a6.

I'd offer like 60 bucks for it should fit right in but a cam gear cant hurt
good luck

what kind of power should I be expecting if I swap the zc sohc into my d16a6?

I'm trying to justify the price vs performance gains.

Thanks

3-5whp?

I'm assuming that it is totally a complete bolt in affair?

Thanks

d16a6's are underrated from the factory. ive seen dyno's when they put out 105 Whp stock. so rating the SOHC ZC at 120hp seems right from just a slight cam upgrade

http://www.norcalcrx.org/tyson/SOHC_Cam.html

you have to figure out if the "SOHC ZC" cam is from a MPFI or carburated engine, you can tell if it has the extra, big lobe on the distributor end.

dont expect much from the MPFI ZC cam anyway. just has a bit higher intake lift.

does the carb version have the bigger lobe on the dizzy side?

I think the seller said it was from a MPFI car. I'm thinking of buying the cam (if its really cheap) and throwing into my engine. By cheap I'm thinking 50 cdn. He's asking 100 bucks for it which I feel is waay too much for a cam that is marginally better.

the real question is: is it worth my time to screw with it.

yeah, its for the mechanical fuel pump for the low pressure carbs.

whether its worth it is up to you.

i have a friend who put it in his car, and wasnt impressed. then again, he keeps bitching about how much he misses his turbo, and is comparing it to a weber cam...

lol.. I just want to extract more power for as little money as possible.

for 50 bucks and to gain like 5-8 HP that's probably not a bad deal.

Not sure if the gains would be that much but I guess the only way to know is to try.

it is true that the stock a6 is completely underrated.

during a dyno day, 3 stock a6's including mine all got 110-111 whp.

so i dunno whats more to expect if youre comparing to a rated 118hp.
