Good Pedals Needed to perform Heel/Toe
I went to HPDE for my first time yesterday. I did good besides the fact that i need to learn to do Heel/Toe better. But what was really holding me back is that my 91 civic hB, the gas and brake pedals are spaced to far apart. So i guess i need to buy some good pedals to help me execute better. What pedals are you peeps running, and where did you get them from?
Try experimenting with the position of your foot. You should be able to do it with the stock honda pedals. Since I don't use aftermarket pedals, I can't point you in the right direction.
You could bend one of the pedals a little. I use stock pedals and heel/toe in my 92 and 91 civic, i have a size 9 shoe. No issues with heel/toe.
shouldn't need new pedals. Stock are just fine. You just need to practice it more. Be careful doing it on the street though, try and save it for empty parking lots.

I think i am just going to make some out of 1/4 inch think aluminum plate and bolt them thought the stock pedal. That way i can shape them how ever i like them and adjusting the spacing and everything. Figure some skateboard grip tape should make them good. If that dosent work i might dill them out and put a grid of small screws in them.

LTB Motorsports sells a Sparco Race pedal for 25 bucks. I just installed a set of these on a friend's car. You have to drill through the stock pedals to mount them, but they're grippy and wide and cheap. Plus the vendor ships stuff in a big big hurry!

yeah, i bought this. all i needed really was the throttle pedal piece, which has the extra area at the bottom to "bring" the pedal closer. i suppose a piece of steel could be more cheaply added (screwed, welded) in, but $25 aint too expensive. i certainly wouldnt go off and spend anything more on any other aftermarket pedal set.

Thats all I really need to is the Throttle pedal. But like you said $25 is not bad. So i am just going to buy that set.

I really liked the Sparco pedals I had in my CRX. They made heel/toe a breeze even w/ my narrow size 9's. I drove the new car for the first time this weekend and it had a stock gas pedal. I could still heel/toe, but it required much more thought and coordination. IMO, it's worth getting a good set of pedals so that it doesn't take any thought away from the other things you're doing (braking/turning).

I just used grip tape on all the pedals. Even though it does hurt if you walk in them for a day...you might want to get a size smaller shoe size, it makes all the difference in pedal feel.
