Hello my fellow R owners, im back. Its been awhile.
Im back to tell you that im leaving the import scene and starting my family scene. For all those that i have met at the expo and at the track whats up and email me so we can keep in touch. Here's my update that lasted 6 long months.
STORY:
Car stolen in AUG 2000 out of my driveway. Car equipped w/ alarm, lojack, and club. ALL FAILED. Filed a claim w/ my insurance company, and they put me under investagtion. They are asking me how can a 2000 Acura Integra w/ a chip in the bow of the key (which only that key can start that car) can be stolen? and to make it worst the car had alarm and lojack? Looks like insurance fraud they said. We went to court and testified under oath and gave my testimony not once but twice to see if i change my story. The attorney that was hired by the insurance was a dick. Asking me "how I did they steal it.",."Did you watch gone in 60 secs.?" "you know about racing for pink slip",etc.... another words he was stereo-typing me because i was asian and a typical "street racer" so he said. He had the nerve and made a comment to me out in the hallway after the depo, that made me upset, he said," You seem like a nice guy, if you know where your car is please return it"... what a a**hole, after hours of giving my testimony this asswipe is accusing me of stealing my own car.. LET'S ROCK
The following hour i hired a attorney. It's on *****-f@#ker. During my 6 months of investagtion, my set of keys was sent to a lab and was studied. later more studies and the question arised "Is it possible for the car to be started w/o the key?." Looking at the ITR Expo, research on Honda-tech.com, and etc.
RESULTS:
After filing a complaint to the Department of Insurance (www.insurance.ca.gov) for what wasreason the insurance co. is taking so long (normal insurance theft claim should only last about 90 days), NOTE there no contact from the insurance company and 95% of the time im leaving a message. I get a letter in the mail from my insurance company stating that they found 2 ways to defeat the engine immbolization, Case Settled.
Lojack paid $695.00, Viper/DEI $500, Club $500. Insurance settle at $27,800. = $29,495
Thats the all she wrote. Still miss my Baby R but oh well... life goes on

Sounds exactly like what I went through. Except my insurance called up my friends and family and questioned all of them also and asked them if they stole my car of if they thought I stole my car. My claim also went on for 10 months. I had to do the same deal, go under oath a couple times in front of the lawyer they hired. What insurance company did you have?

 

Sent a $250 letterhead from my attorney to the insurance company, letting them know that im not Bullshitting.
You don't have to send a letter, i just felt that they were about to screw me out on a car and accusing me of stealing my car.
I needed back up. Remember im still making payments to a car that i don't have.

 

What insurance company did you have? I had Permanent General. SUCKS *****.. i had Allstate, but you pay the price.

 

THats just a messed up story man. I'm glad you got through it all.

 

Why is the insurance company so happy to collect your money but so quick to turn around when you need some?

 

Man, if i was accused of stealing my own car, i would have just beat the **** out
of that guy on the spot. The jail time would be worth it.

 

I had State Farm. From what I hear it's one of the better companies out there. I never had a problem with them until the car was stolen.

i would have knocked the **** out of the lawyer for making a comment like that. It's unprofessional. I HIGHLY suggest making a formal complaint with the California State Bar. It'll be that 'little' blimish on his record.

I HATE LAWYERS!!

 

I was under investigation for my car ebing stolen, I just laughed got my dads attorney, and they shut up, i could believe they accused me off that.

 

Congrats on the settlement, Steve! Man...that's a horror story that I dont even want to think about right now!

Im located in the Long Beach/Lakewood area and thats where my car got stolen.
I did report the lawyer to the CA state board and also called the Dept. of Insurance and also file a complaint, but not much was done, it was pretty much my word against his.. i even said excuse me and made him repeated, no witnesses. It's ok it over with, leaving the Honda/ Acura Family and going for Silverado HD2500 4X4. ((gorilla grunt)). I was planning to get the IS300, but decided to stick to my guns and get a truck that haul **** and also go offroad. (new hobby) plus i want the ultimate home theatre!!!
