Default OBX Pulleys

Hey, does anyone have an opinion on these pulleys? What could go wrong with using cheap pulley sets? I was thinking about just slapping some of these OBX pulleys that can be found really cheap. Don't see any potential harm that a lighter piece of metal could do. Anyone got input on this?

go for it.........honestly i have AEM pullies and soon after i bought them i saw the OBX pullies for much cheaper and they looked identical. they even came with the same high qualitly belts that the AEM's do.

the really do look the same.........and do exactly the same thing.

Pulleys really aren't gonna do much, most people wouldn't recommend them. It'd be one thing if they were only like $120, but then you gotta figure install. The alternator, at least on my car, is buried and requires taking off the fornt axle to get to. Try just taking off your PS belt...

This is very true. Keep a close lookout too. Most pulley sets do not include the crank pulley. This is actually the one that will give you the most gains. The A/C and power steering one won't do much at all, if anything.

The downside to this, is even if you do get the crank pulley, it's a bitch to install. The others are easy.....but the crank....wow. It was even hard to get at, when I had the block sitting on my garage floor!

They're not much for power-adders, but it'll keep you from ripping your pump open at 8000rpm.

i did a crank pulley install on my friend's civic. it was crazy, but it wasn't impossible. i heard pulleys would give the most power!! wow, strange to hear very different opinions!! My friend had a shop that dynoed a civic. It gained like 12 hp to the crank and it was basically stock!! He said a DOHC would gain even more. let me know on this. thanks!
