I was coming home tonight from a club and I saw a sunburst color 05 RSX-S. Very nice car with only the driver. There was a passenger in my car, so anyways, we were goosing around for a bit and we were going about 40 and I was in second and I guess he got on it and I immediately pulled, so I assumed my stock 03 GT is much faster, boy was I wrong.

We did a run from about 40-70....it was pretty much a tie..we did a run from about 20-70, it was still pretty much a tie..we did 20-70 a few more times and the outcome was the same. At the light I asked the guy if it was stock, and he goes yup.

Now, I know my car is running right because when I raced an 05 S2000 it was even until I pulled on it in 4th.

So, take these things into consideration, I had about 300 extra lbs in my car, the Mach 1000 system and my friend and I weigh a combined 400 lbs, that's 500, I assume the driver was about 150lbs, so that's ~350 lbs extra, my tires are pretty much bald so my 1-2 spins alottt, and for some reason I have to granny shift 2-3 or else it doesn't get into gear....<---note, these are not excuses, I'm just trying to put some pieces together because to be honest I thought I would blow the doors off the RSX-S.

The best 0-60 for the 05 RSX-S is 6.1..for the GT it's about 5.5..so given the above conditions I think everything is right..but I still feel uneasy...

Regardless, MAJOR props to the 05+ RSX-S's.

U can probably get a stock one from a holeshot if u can drive and thats about it.

 

Wow. I didn't realize my car was that fast. I would imagine a GT could beat it with the proper driver and no passenger. Their best 1/4's are better than the Type'S.

No man it's stick..and like I said I've done well with cars that are rated almost identical to my car. Im still verrry surprised.

i have yet to race any gt mustangs. only punk 16 year old kids in the v6s that think they are badass. i would like to run a 05 gt just see the outcome

yeah man, ive beat a few gt's since ive had my car.The last one was like an 96-97 and he asked if i was spraying. I guess he didnt know how quick our little cars can be. Both from a roll though and neither one was an 05. I have been waiting to run an 05 but that might not happen since ill be boosted within the next month.

 

hmm i beat a few gt's with my type-s when i only had an injen intake and apexi gt exhaust I usually pulled 14.7 at the quarter mile.

have you done the quarter in your gt.?

Haven't tested it. The car runs fine though because I was neck and neck with an 04 and 05 S2000, and they are both rated almost the same.

These RSX-S's r damn quick. I was talking to this guy from another forum, he has I/H/E and he is tie with his friends STI from 40-140 on numerous occasions. Damn!

But yea, I think it's time to mod this badboy.

umm..the sti should rape the rsx. the rsx is a 14.1 second car at best with his mods. maybe a 13.9

sti's are well below that. dont tell me 300hp/torque will keep up with a 200 whp with 145 pounds of torque..

 

the sti dyno at like 240-250 to the wheels so the 40mph-140mph sounds reasonable vs a bolt on rsx...since the sti is a brick...but from a dig the sti would own..

the sti has torque to make up for the weight. kind of like how domestics can run around with almost 4000 pound cars and still run low to mid 13's. LS1 in the firebird for example..with boltons, it will be in the 12's.

 

K this isn't a what car is faster thread..im just saying what he said. Whether or not it's true or not, let's drop it.

dude an s2k will walk on you top end, a good driver in an s2k will pull you, how do I know, ive done it

 

I own an 05 Type S and yes it will walk on GT's

 

This is all very interesting. A friend of mine has a 2000 GT that went 14.1 stock, then went 13.7 with CAI, exhaust, and a throttle body. He has a fully built motor now, but that is a different story. Anyhow, I don't know of many people going 14 flat in any stock rsx. I think saying that a stock rsx will walk a GT is a pretty bold statment.

 

Alright Chubzilla and 97Civic-R, let's not get too happy here.

97Civic-R..I did have about 350 extra lbs in my car, and with equal conditions a GT is a faster car.

Chubzilla, im sure you've beaten GT's...but I've also beaten 2 different S2000's, an 04 and an 05..and both of them the same outcome, I pulled on them in 4th. I have video if you don't believe me, but it shouldn't matter since different drivers will bring different outcomes.

 

I have a friends 05 RSX-S this whole week that I'm Driving around. I raced a 03 RSX-S the other night from a roll and let the other guy shift first. Then I shifted as I walked on him bad as he just sat there with the WTF face. I have alot of respect for these 2005's now but still looking to come up against a Mustang GT.

My friends RSX-S has injen cold air, DC header, Greddy Evo Exhaust.
the 03 had the same but the better trans I think makes it so much more quicker and fun to drive.

To me it sounds fishy. I don't think the Type-S was stock. I've heard of GT"s running in the high 13's bone stock with awesome drivers. Never heard of a Type-S doing that. I like my car but I don't think I could pull a GT from a roll.

 

When it comes to races, I like to swap in cars, and see if it makes sense. An 02' GT is pretty much tie with an 04+ S2k. Now, the S2K has better gearing, more hp, more torque, than the RSX-S, so an 05 RSX-S can beat an s2k?

Roll-on races can be very bad examples of how fast/slow a car is. A GT would put 1+ cars on an RSXS off the launch and keep on trucking down the 1/4. But from a 20mph roll the GT's TQ advantage gets thrown out the window.
