i just replaced both my axles on my integra and now it feels shakey in 2nd gear and when i turn right it feels like my driver side rim is going to fall off. everything was fine before i changed the axles. the only reason i changed them was because the boots were ripped, but they didn't knock or anything. the power steering pulley & pump are not on the car, but the car did come w/ power steering. i'm not sure if that matters, but something doesn't make sense. one day the car is fine, the next it's all messed up. if anyone knows what might be the problem, please help me out.
thanks!
thanks!
One of the drive shafts that you replaced is bad, we get bad drive shafts once in awhile, so it is not uncommen. I would take both back and get new ones.

i would agree, but as of now i'm still thinking it's something else. i've already changed that axle 3 times w/ all new axles. i can drive the car but it shakes a little and when i turn right it sounds like the axle wants to snap. it sucks cuz i figured it was the axle too! so why isn't it fixed yet! it can't be the passenger side either cuz i didn't touch that side of the car & it was fine before i jacked the car up.
thanks for all the imput so far!
anyone else?

Yeah I would re-check the axles, but it could be your rack and pinion too. Had the problem with my 91 civic si. How are the ball joints? Check the upper and lower ones. I know it's a long shot but all dat shyt is related. Keep us posted.

no luck so far. like i said: one minute the car was fine, the next it's all messed up!
i'm going to check the passenger axle & see what happens.
but does anyone know what happens when you disconnect the power steering and the fluid leaks all out of the lines.
anyone know about that?

Went to Taco Hell drive thru, car driving fine. Pulled out and it felt like someone took my lugnuts off. Limped home and found an axle with a tight spot in it. Replaced it and all was good agian. Axle was only 3 months old. In my case, if you jacked up the car so the wheels were off the ground and popped the hood, then put it in gear and let the wheels spin, the wheels looked fine. But the whole engine/trans was moving side to side by over an inch!!! If your car has an open diff (it did stock) you can spin only one wheel at a time and see which axle is the problem. The other thing to look at is the drivers side axle. It's a lot longer and in 2 pieces. If the section that goes into the trans isn't bolted down right, it can flop around, causing a problem.
