Life spectation on stock ITR shocks/struts?
For the members with earlier ITRs, how long did your first set of shocks last?
The reason I'm asking is because seems it is a common issue ITRs with busted shocks already.....

Mine aren't busted, but are worn. They've got 54K miles on them and the best part of their life is gone. Still drive fine on the street but definitely notice their worn out when autocrossing.
How do you notice they're worn out when you autoX?
my "SPOON" R is a daily beater... and the road to/from work is like a rally course..
bumpy rides...
I think, compared to when it was new, now on hard cornering, it goes down low and bounce back high..(I am no expert but this is how I feel it)...
anyway.. Help me and Convince me that my Suspension is gone so I can get Mugen Lowdown...

43K on mine... beat to ****... not quite on the way back, yet. I'll probably proactively replace them at 50K.
It's be nice to get them warrantied... (before it runs out) but I think they have to be leaking to meet that criteria. Don't leak, but the piston seals are probably weak and the oil in them has probably broken down some... ashes to ashes...

Front wheels lock under hard braking initially, then release when the ABS finally catches up. Completely disrupts the balance of the car. At the Solo Nats we swapped out my shocks/struts for a fresh set from a '01 ITR and the problem vanished, then came back as soon as I put my shocks/struts back on. The shocks are done!!!
Also body motions are not nearly as well controlled (as noted by observers) and by my own gut feelings.
You can just tell when they're gone!

i'm about to hit 40K by the end of this week. car still feels tight, but i'm sure it's b/c I haven't been able to notice the slow degradation of the shocks.

what are most of you replacing these with? I hear a lot about koni's but I don't really want to change the balance of my car just yet. How much are OEM replacements?

would probably cost more to rebuild them than buy new ones, if its even possible, which i dont think it is....
i have heard that the ideal replacement point for ITR struts is 60k miles, but this would vary according to driving cond., whether the car is lowered on stock shocks, etc...of course.
