Default Weight Saving by carbon fiber??

Does anyone know how much weight would be shaved off by switching to carbon fiber doors, deck lid, bumpers, hood and fenders? Or is it not even enough to pay the money for?

Wow, that's a lot of carbon fiber. It depends on what you consider "worth the money." It also depends on the actual carbon fiber part- They are not all created equal.

As a rough estimate, you could save a few hundred lbs. easily. To me, personally, it could possibly be worth it in a track car. But for one thing there are less-expensive ways to lose weight, and for the money you'd be spending on all that carbon-fiber, you could build your motor or throw together a custom turbo-kit.

You'll save roughly:

10-15lbs on a hood
Minimal on a fender
Minimal on bumpers (better off putting in the Japanese Impact bar - Or none at all)
Quite a bit on the doors, but if you arnt running the bar on the inside, you have a very large safety risk against side focused accidents. If you are removing this bar regardless, then you are better off gutting the stock doors as with just the metal and frame, they are pretty light.

Not sure about the deck lid savings.

For the amount of money you spent on Carbon fiber, you might as well just buy a car thats actually fast.

yah everyone knows 10lbs = 10 whp. It is a direct correllation at a 1:1. duh!

Like I said before, you are better off gutting your car, getting a CF hood and spending the rest in motor mods
