Default Removing the PS belt...

Hey, I'm thinking about removing my PS belt. I hear the steering feel is a lot better plus it should add a tad bit of power across the band, not that I expect to feel it. How hard it is to take off/put back on the belt? Any bad effects from keeping the belt off permanently.

Anyone out there without PS? How does it drive?

Lots of people do it, but I personally don't think there are many benefits to it. I like my power steering though. You could always just cut off if you were in a hurry. I have seen that done many a time. It's not too tough anyway though. I'd leave it on.

piece of cake to remove the belt, have you ever looked at it???? loosen one bolt and a wingnut.
I have removed the whole system and am using an old civic manual rack, its lighter and turning radius is smaller. It is a good workout parking also

Get an underdrive pulley kit instead, you can increase power and keep your power steering at the same time!

Well, underdrive pulley kits cost money (removing PS belt is free), the install is a bitch on pulleys (easy on removing PS belt). Plus, simply removing the PS belt will probably do more than underdrive pulleys combined, not factoring in the crank pulley.

Also, another reason for removing the PS belt for me is cause I have cams the idle would improve a bit without the PS belt, especially around curves where my car likes to sputter.

its a bitch to park but once your going and on the freeway its nice. It is really easy to take off the belt and put it back on. Just take off the belt dont take off the whole system. If you take off the whole system it is going ot get messy
