KYB AGX Vs. Tokico Illumina
This may've been beaten to death as much as which is the best header, but what the hell?
I would like to hear from someone who A) has owned each or B) driven each of the two brands listed.
I'd like to get an overall feel for how good they are overall, ranked against each other, and ranked as a factor of price (i.e.,
if KYBs run $300 and Tokicos $430, and Tokicos are slightly better overall, are they worth it for the marginal difference?).
What about ease of adjustment and range of adjustment?
I'm not interested in Konis, as this is street use only and I've determined I don't need that level of performance for the price
difference.

I actually asked someone who used both and the koni yellows as well. Of coarse he said the koni yellows were best, but between the kyb and tokico's, he recommended kyb's.
I forgot his username, but he spoke out of experience so I think its credible.

Thanks for the responses thus far.
I've been leaning towards Tokico, but it isn't that much more for the Konis.
Anyone cheaper than $429 from Shox.com for Tokico or $340 from the GroupBuy for KYBs (like $279 from JCWhitney?)?
Thanks.

my friend has the KYB AGX's along w/ Eibach pro-kits on his car.. he let me drive his car for a few miles and the ride isnt bad.. but since his tires were kind of balding i didnt push it that hard... i let him drive my car which has Koni yellows and eibach sportlines.. but i have better tires, anti-sway bars, and strut tower bars.. so it wouldnt be a fair comparison.. the KYB's are very good for the price though.. i have riden in a gsr w/ tokicos... but never driven it.. so i really cant say anything on these..
Since I'm going to be spending money for these, what else should I get to do the job right?
Boots? Bumpstops? Or just re-use what's on the car ('01 GSR w/ 25K miles) already?

I can't comment on the kyb/tokico comparison, but I have Illuminas and love them, $400 through a groupbuy a while back.
Anyways, you can re-use the stock dust covers if you just put springs on the shocks. If you use coilovers the boots won't work, atleast they didn't fit in my situation. My tokico's came with new bumpstops on one pair of shocks, can't remember if it was front or back. At any rate you will re-use one set of bumpstops, most likely you'll cut them in half to put on the new shocks. You'll also want to go get a spring compressor to get the stock springs off the shocks. I got a compressor at Checker Auto for $50 and when I returned it they credited me back the $50. You will most likely re-use some parts from the stock shock assembly, again I think that depends on if you get coilovers/springs. HTH.
Oh yea, a good reference site for suspension installation is here: http://www.bseries.net/html/garage/spring.php
I also have a bunch of pics that might help for reference (from my integra suspension install): http://repo.jackmoves.com/index.cgi?cmd=viewcat&id=10

I have tokico illuminas. With the H&R Sport springs it rides stiff. There is still some body roll but someone told me its because of my sway bar and that if i get an ITR sway bar 99% of the body roll will be eliminated.
