speedometer and rpm not working
I took the whiteface gauges the previous owner of my car put on the cluster and took out the needles. I put the needles back in and now the rpm and speedometer needle not working. Now I know I shoudln't have taken those damn needles out but has anyone else had this problem? If so how can I fix? Thanks
Hi, is this 4th gen? just the needle? or did you remove the white plastic housing that is connected to it, with coil inside. I have an EL cluster in 4th gen JDM prelude, the light went out on speedo needle, tried finding LED but in proccess ended up busting the speedo needle (messing up the thin metal wires behind/connecting to it) as well as finding out there is no LED.
I'm not sure what to do either, trying to find needle&coil to replace, hoping it will still work, there was only 2 pins that plug into this coil.

my friend took out the needles when installin gauge faces in his 01 prelude. afterwards the tach didnt work but the speedo did. no idea why. i know he tried several things trying to get it to work again but couldnt succeed. he just ended up buying another cluster on ebay.
If it an EL cluster you have, then I know that instead of popping just the needle off, you can replace the white plastic housing (with a coil inside) WITH the needle attatched. Then the needle has not been played with, as you are replacing that unit with the needle/coil (not sure what this part is called) as opposed to replacing just the needle. But if you have analogue odometer and rest of cluster, ignore this.
