Default civics?

Is a 97 stcok vtec civic anygood to spend money on? and on a engine with a header intake and catback exhaust. does ur car really go that much faster? and what would be hp gain with all of that?

u could turbo it, but if you want to go all motor i would suggest a motor swap with those bolt ons.

on a stock vtec engine, those bolt ons dont add that much hp, but noise goes up alot

If you're planning on keep the D series, I would suggest boosting it. They can make quite a bit of power when they're boosted.

you are basically going to get nowhere with NA boltons as its not that powerful of a engine to start with (not that B-series are powerful)...I'd suggest you just boost the **** out of it. Push 15psi, if the engine blows you can replace the whole block for 400 tops

There are SOHC Civics running 400 hp's. I have seen DOHC's running over 1,000's hp's. SOHC's are great motors, but they will never have the potential that a DOHC will simply because of more tuning options. Two cams instead of one. More stock power than the single cams. You can definitely still get great power out of a single cam if you build it and tune it right, but a DOHC will part for part, still make more power than an SOHC.
