Went down like a ton of bricks. :P

Uphill right hander, yellow sign saying 20mph. I've done the corner nearly a dozen times, decided to try it a little quicker. I went into it at maybe 35, was fine till the apex, and then it gets a little tighter, I leaned into it a little more, and the peg feeler touched down, skipped the rear tire ( I think, happened really faster after that) and lowsided. Got slammed down on my right knee, I *think* that took the brunt of the impact, as nothing else besides my gloves are scuffed at all, besides a few small spots on my jacket.
Luckily not a car anywhere near me, I hit the ground and slid maybe 10 feet, watched the bike slide across the other lane and off into the grass. First thought was to get the **** out of the road, so ran over, shut the bike down and somehow managed to stand it up even though the topside of it was facing downhill.
Damage-
Bike: Right fairing shaved up pretty good, engine cover, mirror, turn signal, wind screen cracked, tail pipe rashed, bar end slider, brake lever ground down a bit.
Gear: Right knee/shin torn up pretty good, some scuffing on the upper thigh/hip. A few small scuffs on the jacket, and my right glove took the worst of it. Hole burned right through the palm, plastic knuckle protector smashed in/scuffed, top of wrist on glove rashed up. Eyelets on boot ground down/pinched shut (I almost couldnt get my boot off, the laces were pinched into the eyelets
) And top of boot scraped up a little.
Bodily: Right knee is sore from getting body slammed, lower back on the right side feels like someone hit me with a sledghammer, as my body twisted a funny way when I hit the ground. Other than that, not a single scrape or cut on me, just some sore bones.
Leather =
And I know all too well why it happened, not enough experience, but when that peg hit down, I knew I was leaned over too far, and wasnt using my body in the turn at all, making the bike do all the leaning. But hey, thats why I bought a used bike and a full set of leather. What doesnt kill ya makes you stronger. Now I know, and the knowledge I took from this will be put to good use.

Wow, you should be able to take corners that say 20 at well over 60, unless your on a goldwing...not much lean on your bike eh? good to hear you were wearing your gear though, saved ya some flesh...

The corner is almost a complete 180.
150 rear tire, and I wasnt using my body at all, was being lazy and had the bike doing all the leaning. But, it was a good learning experience, and thats why I bought a used bike, as its not really a matter of IF but WHEN.
Now I know not to be a lazy bastard and make the bike do all the leaning.

More importantly time to start leaning off the bike then get some rear sets if you still need it.

That was my mistake right there. One that I'm gonna learn from in the way of sore ribs, torn leather and melted plastic.

Did you learn that you should be riding like this on the track if you want to see how fast you are?

I didnt think I was *THAT* low.
Some people have been trying to talk me into it. I might just make the FZR a track bike and buy another one this winter/spring.

Thats a wise decsision
Even using your street bike to do track days is better than low siding into on coming traffic, or high siding off a 1000' Cliff
you'll be a better biker for it, and if your actually any good at it you might find a whole new group of friends

LOL, I actually didnt even make it into the next lane, I just kind of got body slammed by the bike into the pavement, and I didnt really slide any where. I was expecting more sliding, but hey, works for me.
i swear...everybody loves flaming a guy....it's like the board jumps on people whenever anyone is doing some spirited driving...he doesn't sound like he was out of control to me. his footpeg caught 'cause he was overleaning the bike. i've done this before, but i was just plain lucky and the bike didn't go down. if you haven't done this it will happen eventually...as they say with motorcycles, "it's not IF, it's WHEN". honestly, we are riding sport bikes for a reason. if he wanted to cruise around and never see a corner he would be riding a chopper. in any case, my two cents is: you got lucky 'cause there was no traffic there, but it sounds like you figured something out pretty valuable and it might save your life next time. you were properly prepaired and you did the best you could given the situation...next time you'll lean your body and go a little slower. i'm glad you posted this 'cause it constantly reminds me of the dangers...

Yeah, it gets better further up.
Only aches and pains I have now is my right wrist is really sore, feels like I sprained it a little. Other than that, my ribs and leg which were sore last night, feel absolutely fine today.
And it wasnt the speed that did me in, it was the lack of experience, lack of lean, and the general riding position I was using.
Even a little bit of body lean might have been enough to prevent it. Live and learn.
