Default HID Bulb ?

just wanted to know if anyone that has hid, is it possible to change the bulb to a higher one and keep the same ballast or would i need to buy a new ballast and bulb????? i have 4300k i want 8000k

no you can just buy a hid bulb thats a higher kelvin.. you do realize that you are losing a lot of light going from 4300k to 8000k

you probably have an oem hid setup? since you have 4300K. Then I'm also assuming you have D2S bulbs. Yes, you can get a higher kelvin rating on those. You can search for them on ebay. You might wanna consider getting 6000k rather than 8000.

well is the 6000k brighter than 8000k i know the 8000k is more blue which is what im looking for.

The optimal light output is at around 4100k-4300k which is stock HID bulbs. The higher you go on the kelvin scale, the dimmer the output would be. Chances are that the 6000k would be brighter than the 8000k but with very little difference.

a buddy of mine has a civic that has a 8000k kit in his car we were driving next to each other on a dark road and it was a rainy .. i looked at his light output compared to my 4300k e46 night and day difference. he later said he was struggling to see the painted lines on the road.
