My car has No Tach, Any swaps avalable?
I have a 1994 Honda Civc DX SOHC 1.5L car, 5 spd, and it buggs me that I do not have a stock Tach. Is there any gauge clusters I can swap inot my car that has a Tach??
Yeah man, I have a 93 dx without a tach too. Seriously, how much money did honda save by not installing a tach? Its rediculous. Thankfully its an easy fix. you can take a cluster out of any 92-95 civic (the auto one has the gear selection icons on it, and that would look gay, so look for a manual one) and basically its as easy as pullin the old one out, pluggin in the new one and screwin it back in. some of the screws can be hard to get to, but its not too bad. Heres a tip, take the speedo off your cluster and swap it with the one on the cluster with the tach, that way you can keep your odometer reading.
guy that had my civic before me installed one of them after market tech's , so i got one
in my dx, but o'reilly auto parts has exact same one i got for 69.99 it goes up to 8K

the only catch though, IMO to getting an ex or si tach is that your mileage will be changed. Fortunately there is a solution to the problem. My friend opened up the housing, and swapped the middle gauge that contains your mileage and the speedometer. There are only 4 bolts holding it in and its an easy swap. You have to take off the cluster bezel and then you can remove the four bolts on the back of the cluster.

If you do not want to go this route, or for possibly a cheaper route, you could always buy one of the tachs that they sell that are very small ( about the size of a boost gauge) and cost only like $25 at pepboys or any parts store I suppose... I think the brand may be sunpro, but my friend has had one for a good 3 years and no problems with it ..

yea my civic dx doesnt have a tach either and it bothers the hell out of me too
i have a gsr cluster lying around and i heard that if u get the integra harness and do alittle bit of cutting you could swap it in , so i guess il be trying that
by the way, any1 have that thread where it shows how to install and wire a gsr cluster into an 92-95 civic ? i tried searching and found nothing

92-95 LX, VX clusters also have Tachs. All have different redlines, also auto cluster will also fit.

if you have a dx wouldnt it make more since to put in an LX cluster, it will show you the correct redline, since dx have d15b7.
if you throw in an ex your redline will be around 7200 rpm (i believe) where as dx/lx have redline at like 6500 rpm (i believe)

i guess it makes sense... but if you're too retarded to shift at the right rpm , regardless of cluster redline, you shouldn't be driving...

well true, the first two cars i ever had, had no tach, so i hardly use mine now. but some people go by their tach.

yeap. it was fun having a B16 and a stock LX cluster in my old hatch. friends who drove it wouldn't push it past 6k (or whatever the redline was).
