Apparently it will have AWD and a turbocharged 2.0 ; But still Mazda would need to improve their AWD system because it sends power primarily to the front wheels and then once traction becomes a problem it diverts power to the rear and once traction is taken ahold of it diverts all the power/majority of it to the front.

I have driven the awd turbo S40 and it is pretty fun . It is extremely simillar to a Mazda 3

 

The Mazda 3 is pretty good at autoxing at a local level but is lackey on get up and go power, the MS3 should do well

 

It's probably a bit early to speculate on this car right now. I've seen reports saying 2.3 turbo, 2.0 turbo, all wheel drive, front drive with limited slip. Until more gets nailed down, including weight and wheel size, I would not worry about it. I find the car interesting and am watching to see what Mazda ends up doing with it.

 

Yeah, especially after the MS6 turned out to be such a pig.

 

In Mazda's defence, they never said the 6 was supposed to compete with the Evo/STI. I don't actually know what they had in mind for that car. Not refined enough to compete with something like the Acura RL, not enough performance to compete with the rally cars. I hope the 3 has a market figured out so they make it something desirable. I guess I could say the same for recent Honda product too.
