Default Koni Yellows vs KYB AGX w/GC Coilovers...

I want to lower my car moderately (1.5in max). I'm gonna keep my stock mags. I also want to be able raise the car back up for winter driving (or maybe put back on the stock suspension if that's a better idea). I've asked around the board, and done my fair share or reading throug searchesl; but I'm still a little confused. This is all VERY new to me (suspension).

As I understand it, the GC Coilovers would be the part that I would set to lower and raise the car (correct me if I'm wrong). These seem to be highly reccomended.

KYB AGX's are adjustable shocks (do I really need these if I do not race?). I just like to drive on the street and get very good hadling, better than stock.

Koni Yellow's: I came across these while doing a search on HT.com, but the site doesn't have much info about applications. Are these more rece oreiented, or street? Are they cheaper?

My main concern is trying to get 4 shocks and Coilovers for about $1000 CDN (~$750 USD), am I dreaming...?

If anyone can reccoemnd anything else (especially if it will be cheap, but not sh!tty. I dont; treat my car like ****!

Thanks for all of your help so far guys

Well for $750 you can probably get what you want.
The AGX Adjustables are very cheap, $340 from groupbuy shipped to your door. But I think Canada requires a little additional shipping cost.

The KYB AGX's have 4 stages, 1 being close to stock, and 4 being the stiffest. When it says they're adjustable, it means the stiffness is adjustable, not the height. Some people confuse that.

KYB AGX + Eibach Prokits go for $530 total and they lower your car 1.3"~1.5". (KYB recommends not to lower more than 1.5" with their shocks or the warranty will be void or something--not sure though).

f you're not going to to any auto-x, little road racing (which nobody recommends ) or just want better handling overall, then KYB AGX's are more than enough for you.

The Koni Yellows (Sports) are one of the best shocks out there. They'll cost you about $500 for shocks alone. But everyone says they're worth it. Now these shocks are height adjustable. But not like coil overs. You can adjust it only before you install it. Once it's installed, it's just like the KYB AGX's. The konis has a **** that you rotate to adjust stiffness, there are no numbers on it so you have to figure out yourself.

If you're into auto-x'ing and want good performance, Koni yellows are a good option. They come with life-time warranty so they'll replace your shock for free if they blow up I believe.

I don't know much about GC coil overs except the fact that you can adjust the ride height anytime you want. You could slam it or do the 4x4 look. I think GC coil overs cost somewhere around $300 give or take a few.

Koni Yellows + GC coil overs are a good combo I heard. But don't take my word for it.
KYB AGX + GC coil overs is okay too. But again, search about GC coil overs for I have little knowledge about them.

Thanks Calavera for the info.

I don't think I need to spend more moeny to get the Yellows, I will probably stick with the KYB AGX.

Now all I need to know is if the GC are any good?

How long will this stuff last on my car?

In general sleeve coilovers suck. IMHO GC's are the only good ones. However I would only recommend them to be used w/ Koni shocks, since they use adapters to attach tightly to the shock, and the Koni spring perch is not even used (this makes for much cleaner, functional look). Konis and GC's for Konis will run you about US$850.
