Fastline Performance Shifter Review; Slightly Pic intensive
Alright guys, I've read some reviews of this shifter in the past, this is by no means a thread to start an argument. This is stricly my opinion on the shifter. I do a small amount of road racing, but felt that since that is exactly what this product is geared for, it belonga here. With that said:
Installation of the shifter is super easy, if you know how to get underneath your car, you should be able to figure it out. The only remotely difficult/inconvenience of it is having to remove the plastic ring in your shift boot to allow the shifter to fit through it. No biggie. I do not have a full exhaust on the car right now, so I cannot comment on any clearance issues, but from underneath it doesn't appear that there will be any problem.
Upon driving the car for the first time it was a huge difference from my ebay crap short shifter. It takes some getting used to right away, but shifts are precise, fluid, and crisp. The ONLY complaint I have about the shifter is that there is a little bit of movement from left to right once you have selected a gear...it's NOT a bad thing, just takes some getting used to. Obviously the purpose of this shifter is to position it closer to the wheel and it does exactly that. With your hands positioned at 12 and 2 on a stock wheel, it's probably six inches away. I haven't had the car on the autocross course since, but I can see the shifter being a really nice convenience. On the street the shifter is nice, the distance is convient, and as I already mentioned the shifts are clean. If you're the type of guy that rides with his seat fully reclined and holds on to the shifter like its a handle, this product is probably not for you.
Here's the eye candy to give you guys and idea of how it sits.

Overall I give it 2

I'm not sure about HC, but I'm pretty sure changing shifter handles is illegal for IT.
Might be fine for a street car though.

The quality of the shifter is second to none, and HeelToe's customer service is incredible. Obviously it would be nice if they were a little less expensive, but it's worth every penny imho.

I'm not sure either, maybe someone can elaborate?

Shift ***** in ITCS are free, so you can make an attachment that screws onto your sdtock shifter and places its integral **** in the right place. This new one piece attachment is now the ****.
Well that's a nice little reach-around for the rules...
Reminds me of the 911 the ran a Bonneville a few years ago with a chopped top. It ran in the GT class which does not allow chopping of the top. But rule book does say "the windshield may be lowered". So when someone threatened a protest that the top was chopped, the guy says, "No it isn't. I just lowered the windshield."

The advantage of doing so is debatable though....
the throw is increased here....
With the FLP shifter, throws are same as stock. Plus this shifter weighs around 5 lbs. Shifts are smooth and aided by the counterweight.

I have used one on my DC2 ITR track car for a little while, now.
It's marvelous, but nobody ever believes it until they drive it.

circuit hero makes just that. but it only works with a shrt throw so the throws are stockish length
i got the flp because i had trouble shifting to 5th with my modified seating position and steering wheel extension. i love my flp and dont know how i drove without it.

Thank you, Before I was involved with enforcing the rules I was involved with "bending" the rules. It takes a thief to catch a thief.

But your seats cost too much and your steering wheel's too small.

Great shifter IMO. I have the first style (one piece) and it works great! Only problem on mine is the counterweight on the linkage is lowered enough to contact the exhaust in 5th, makes a shrieking sound on the freeway.
Oh yah, don't install these one day before you go to the track... they take a bit to get used to. I got lost in neutral on the first turn at PIR and spun out

For carbon/kevlar seats that are that nice you cant really argue with the price, they're some of the more affordable carbon/kevlar seats I've seen.
