JDM 4-1 Header Installation... Alternative to POS Carsound Header
Im getting a 4-1 JDM Header installed very soon... after reading the numerous posts about Carsound/Magnaflow exhausts crapping out on a large number of people, I would like to avoid that but still be environmentally safe, meaning NO test pipe. SO anything else out there ?? I.E. Running stock cats ??

I have had no problems in the almost 3 years i have been running my smsp modified carsound with jdm 4-1 to t1r exhaust. I have passed emissions with no problems and the car has ran great
I run the JDM Cat. not sure if its up to stardards of the US emmission laws, but i'm sure its filtering something.

If you dont get your car tuned when you add a header/intake/exhaust/whatever, then you will have a catalytic converter 'problem'... what you call 'crapping out'.
It's not the cat's fault - its the user's fault.

VAFC would be enough. And is a pretty good idea even for those few mods.

About 5 years when I started selling cats I used the 94005 (2-1/4") and 94006 (2-1/2") Carsound/Magnaflow cats. I had some issues with these and I will not use them anymore. Currently I use some of the Magnaflow 93505 and 93506 cats along with a few other manufacturers.

FWIW, this is the cat I used from Jeg's.
289-15033 2.5'' In/Out with AIR tube, 13.25'' Long $59.99
Needs to have the tube cut off and welded shut, and an O2 sensor bung installed. But it worked fine over the time I had it installed.

Hey Dave I noticed on the carsound website: "The 93000 Series large oval is specifically designed for medium to large engine displacements and features a larger capacity catalyst"
Is the B18C5 considered just that type of engine ??
