well my driver side axle is sticking out of the transmission about 1/4", I have tried 4 different axles and same thing. I know there is some play up/down on the axle when it is in (differential maybe?). The car drives fine (besides major wheel hop taking off at slow speeds, maybe related?) except it is losing major tranny fluid through this gap. any help or suggestions besides beat on it with a hammer are appreciated.

im not exactly sure of the problem but i wouldnt drive on it wheel hop is very bad for the car at any speed and for any length of time but besides its very unsafe. just my 2 cents though

 

damn, still havent got it huh. maybe you should bite the bullet and have someone do it. Just dont tell them you tried to put it in oyurself. I cant think of anything man, I wish I lived right down the street so i could look at it.

 

well the conclusion i have come to is that something in the differential is jacked. I plan on dropping the tranny this weekend to take a closer look. I figure the differential bearing, input shaft bearing, and a clutch job is a must while its out. we'll see how it goes and i'll keep u updated.
