sorry for the newb question but what are radial brakes and what advantage do they have over convetional brakes?

Its only a radial master cylinder, not radial calipers.
The advantage is feel. They dont have anymore power. It is pretty easy to lock the front on the std Nissin at any speed. This definately gives more feedback. It works better as the lever is acting directly on the plunger, not tangentially like the stock part.

Its a 19 x 20. I spoke to a few people about the ratio and the general opinion was that with stock calipers it is better to have a harder lever. It did help me a bit as I do sometimes take more front brake than I should in the corner. Definately more feel and less effort needed.
