Swapping ECUs! *Easy quick question*
These gas prices are out of my mind. I need to do something about it quick. The ecu i am running right now runs very rich, it has to come out. I have a 94 civic dx hatch. The car was originally an auto and when the gsr was put in, it was converted to a 5 speed.
I have a VIRGIN AUTOMATIC P28 ECU lying around, could i put that on the car and it will run ok? I only want it for the stock gas-happy map on it.
Edit: While on the subject, does aftemarket exhaust affect gas mileage at all?
Your input is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Yup, just a code for that pesky automatic shift solenoid. But other than that, it will run fine.

Does anyone else feel this way or have experience with this?

which ECU are you running now?
a Stock P28 would run a GSR on the lean side.
I'd just burn a stock GSR map in uberdata or Crome and drop it in there. Heck have it tuned so it runs right which will get you better fuel mileage and more power.

It is fine. I have done three auto to manual swaps and in all 3 cases, I have kept the stock automatic ECU. One was on my Integra, and two were on EX Civics (one swapping to a 5-speed H22).
I have heard they run lean, but in my experience, even in tuning, they didn't exhibit any signs of this.
