Best or Worst Mod?
I am about to start doing a lot of stuff to my Teg, so I am wondering what you guys would recommend for an LS. What's the best to do for reasonable money with good gains?? I am thinking to start off with a header, probably DC 4-1 and then maybe AEM Adjustable Cam Gears or AEM Tru Time Pulleys. What do you guys think or what have you done that has showed good gain for a reasonable price?? Thanks for any replies!

the pulleys add little to no gain, i wouldn't get the cam gears unless you had aftermarket cams and you then need to go to a dyno to tune them right. Some good cheap mods would be to get copper plugs, hondata intake manifold gasket, do a throttle body bypass, advance timing, you'll get maybe 3-6 whp for like $80 which ain't bad.

My favorite mods were my intake, header, and especially weight reduction. It's easy, free, doesn't compromise driveability, and is fun. There is a certain effortless acceleration that accompanies a lighter car.
My least favorite mod was probably my shift **** on the stock shifter. It was slippery and too high. I got the stock one back now...

save all your money, buy a turbo kit, or put some nos, caus e you aint getting **** for cheap out of an ls.........ls motors are strong but they need alot more than an intake and exhaust to even keep up with alot of stock cars, i ended up with 3 g's somehow, bought a turbo kit and that was the best thing i ever did for my car,or, swap that bitch in a hatch---mustang murderer........
You beat me to it.
Turbo is the way to go. For the same amount of money as a B18B1 setup putting out 150 to 160whp, you could be putting out 250whp and twice the torque of the NA comparative.
Drag GenIII Turbo - gets my vote

start out small... aem cai, header, cat, exhaust. lightened flywheel unless you are going to spray NOS. Cam gears and pulleys aren't going to help enough to justify cost right now. safc won't help enough either, so don't consider it yet. cams should be next... along with a valvetrain and higher compression pistons. or ditch all that and boost

if your asking about the LS then I say if you go N/A then drop a SI or GSr tranny on that bad boy, if not then TURBo that puppy.
good luck
if money is the prob<<< so what buy a turbo anyway>>>rob a bank, rob your GF, rob moms purse ETC...
do what it takes and join the dark side.

scrap the pulleys. intake exhaust header hi flo cat. cams THEN cam gears. but like everyones saying you wont get that much power unless you turn to the ............DARK side.
I'd say ITR rear sway bar with BSQ's mounting kit. Supposed to be the best "mod for the buck". Since the LS has a puny 14mm(?) rear sway bar, a 22mm ITR one surely will make a difference.
If you decide to go with the ITR, please search the words "ITR sway" and you will find all the information needed--needed parts, how much, from whom, install guide.

id say take a look at BSQs homemade icebox come out to around 10$ and its very similar to the comptech icebox(do a search on this). headers are a good idea but the cam gears and pulleys arent worth the money. you'll need some performance cams if you want to have some adj gears, also look for another pair cam gears such as skunk2 or something with more that 3 bolts, better safe than sorry i say. but id pick performance cams and gears over i/h/e.
Worst mod I ever made was installing my Crower "High Performance" Titanium Retainers... after only 4000 miles one broke and sent my valve into the motor...
I would only buy skunk2 valvetrain components or Ferras....

TB bypass is removing the coolant hoses (and connecting them to each other) from the TB so it stays cooler,
which gives a few more HP.
Also can make the car idle like ****, and is more a track-only proposition.

u dont need cams to run cam gears -- and your cams and gears wont be as successful without i/h/e first
i know its trite to say go turbo - but if u cash there really isnt anything else you should be doing
